The location is a 45 min walk to the areas we were interested in or a short Uber ride. There is a CoOp within a 5 min walk. Great grocery store with plenty of options.
The rooms are standard for what you would expect with Intercontinental rooms. We did ask to have our room location changed because of the construction outside the window, we were not able to take a nap after a long bus travel morning. The noise was loud and I could not sleep. We were moved to a room on the other side of the hotel on a lower floor and without a view of the lake but at least I did not have the noise to keep me awake.
Our friends were moved to a suite but when I questioned the category we were in, I was told that it was a mistake that both of their rooms were upgraded to suites free of charge and we would not be able to receive a suite. We were all traveling together, so I did not understand that situation but did not question the reception person.
We are returning to this same hotel in a few days so I hope we have a better experience with our room.
From checkin to checkout and everything in between was such a pleasant experience.
All hotel personnel were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful.
Highly recommend this hotel.

The first thing to say is I realise the pressure that COVID 19 has caused.
Secondly the pool area and the staff at the pool led by Yousef and supported by Angola, Christof and Sarah helped to stop our visit being a disaster. They could not have worked harder or done more for us.
I believe the issues with this hotel lies with senior management. I rang the hotel before we arrived to advise of our late check in at 9.30pm and was told we would be able to get a meal on arrival. When we arrived we were advised that there was no food available and that if we wanted to eat we could leave the hotel and head for the City centre. This was a 20 minute walk away. So we went hungry.
The next day, Saturday, we visited Lake Geneva which was beautiful. When we got back to the hotel we decided to have lunch by the swimming pool and use the sun beds in the pool area. When we got the pool we were surprised how busy it was as the hotel was nowhere near full occupancy. We were told there were no sun beds available as all the non residents had taken all the beds. We were also told that we would have to wait an hour to eat at the bar restaurant due to it being booked up with non residents.
Luckily at this point Yousef and Christoff jumped in and saved the day.
Unfortunately they could not help when we finally sat down to eat our meal and the food was if a very poor standard.
We then decided to eat that evening in the hotel premier restaurant Woods, only to be advised it was closed on a Saturday and Sunday evening.
At this time I asked to see the manager, only to be told there was no management on site as they were on a day off.
By this time my wife and I started laughing as we could not see how things could get any worse.
It is clear the management team are not interested in their customers and prefer the local residents to use the hotel facilities.
As I say I do not blame the front facing staff in any way as they were trying their best in difficult circumstances. However I do blame the faceless management team who clearly lack the skills to run a five star hotel both in communication and empathy to their customers and the burden they put on their lovely staff.
I would advise to stay away from this hotel until they sort these issues out.
1. At our arrival, there was no doorman to help with luggages (they used to have at least 2-3 any time of the day). We waited for the only desk/reception lady to finish off another guest checkout (10 minutes) to eventually have our luggages taken care of (with a helping hand from the taxi driver!).
2. We were literally harassed by the housekeeping staff daily. We would receive daily calls (one day we had two calls) asking us when we would leave the room. This, while the “do not disturb” sign was displayed on our room door (not to mention the usual papers they would sneak under the door).
3. We were two guests in the family suite but housekeepers would leave only one bottle of water, and more surprisingly, only one glass. I did mention it to the desk staff, they improved the same day, but we got one bottle and one glass the next one. Also, they would not top up the coffee machine.
During previous stays, we would generally get a fruit platter. None was provided this time around. And i won’t mention the fact that the main bar was closed. Basically, it looked as if the hotel was running with the minimum, most basic capacity and with reduced quality standards (but with the same, unchanged rates). We visited and had drinks at hotel Bergues, they seemed running business as usual.
While i can understand that the covid related closure and reopening is a challenge, i still believe that for a hotel of this category and reputation, they have to live up to their reputation, at least when it comes to the quality of service.
We decided not to return to this hotel anymore.

The Concierge (I think his name is Nicholas) was absolutely top notch! Very knowledgeable and full of great information.
Snacks at the bar of good quality and the cocktails were also great. Breakfast was superb with incredible choices and an a la Carte option as well.
Dinner at the Woods restaurant was very nice with very tasty meals and fantastic staff; attentive yet unobtrusive.
Did not have the opportunity to utilise the spa services but ….,
The only downside was that the aircon was not very effective but was not a deal-breaker.
Planning to stay when next in Geneva
Staff were very polite.
Had dinner to the bar, had one of the most tasty entrecote steaks i've ever had.
Overall a good one night stay.
Lobna escorted us to our suite explaining the whole hotel and facilities. She also delivered to our room a pass to use on the travel network in Geneva.
We went for a short walk and on our return found a cake, champagne and a personalised message, unbelievable! We were so happy.
The next morning we took breakfast which we both agreed was the best ever! We have stayed in several Intercontinental Hotels and your breakfast was definitely the best with a large selection of delicacies to choose from.
Lobna also arranged a late check-out which was so helpful to us.
Our check-out was also smooth with Lobna's colleague, unfortunately we didn't take his name, sorry.
Overall our stay was fantastic and really made the end of our stay in Geneva fantastic.
Your hotel is fantastic however it is always the staff who make a hotel and Lobna and her colleague really made it for us so a huge thank you and we hope to see you soon!
"Use the No5 bus just outside hotel to get to the centre - ask the hotel for the free travel pass. Once you know the bus system it’s perfect."Read full review
