We stayed at the Hirschen for three nights in September. The hotel is well placed for visiting Interlaken, only a short walk from the main shopping area and restaurants and the local buses to both stations pass the hotel, the hotel provides a free bus pass which we made good use of. We had a comfortable and quiet room which... More

This hotel is nicely situated in Matten, walking distance to Interlaken center and the two railway stations, which connects to all surrounding areas. most rooms are like an old Swiss farmhouse style, lots of timber and very cosy. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is supurb, with both swiss specialities and international cuisine. We have stayed there several... More

If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is not it. HIrschen was built in the 17th century and has lovely old hallways, floors and walls. The rooms are shabby and dated and can be noisy and smokey from the downstairs restaurant. There are wonderful views and you can open the shutters like you're in a Flemish painting. The... More

Reasonably clean hotel as we found, a decent breakfast and a welcoming owner. That said our room was bug infested. We had to go to the doctor the day we left Hirschen who confirmed bed bug bites. His colleague confirmed same as a second opinion. Suggests lack of checks of bedding by hotel staff. we loved Switzerland but the stay... More

Very Swiss. I had people who had lived in the area tell us they wanted to stay there because it was a more authentic Swiss hotel inn and restaurant than others in the area. The food was very good! They have a spicy apple soup that is superb!!! I ate in many place all over Switzerland from Zurich to Luzern... More

I was really excited for this place in Interlaken. However, maybe it's because we got one of the cheaper rooms, or maybe it's because we were a young couple, but out stay at Hirschen was one of our least favorite places to stay in all of Europe. Luckily when we got there, the receptionist lady was at her desk and... More

Stayed here with my partner and my parents at Easter this year and I have to say that it was a most enjoyable stay. The Hotel is ideally situated in Interlaken with bus routes right on its doorstep making it very easy to get to and from the rail station and is only 10 minutes walk from Interlaken Ost and... More

A really lovely characterful place, it's nice to find the real thing in Interlaken (which can be a rather fake-feeling town). The owner was very friendly too. It's true that it could really do with renovation, but our room was clean and a good size - though we are both tall, but the ceilings are better suited to the average... More

I was very lucky to settle on the Hotel Hirschen for my recent trip to Interlaken. I must have looked at 100 other hotels in the area, and settled on this one because of it's location, age, price and the reviews on this site. I loved it, and can't wait to go back for another visit. The welcome was warm... More
