I come to Mürren all the time. It is probably my favourite place in the world. I’ve stayed in a few accommodations in the village over the years and have passed the Hotel Alpina lots of times though having never stayed there. I think it possibly has the best location of all the hotels in Mürren set right on the cliff edge high above the valley with unobstructed views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau opposite,

The village is on the edge of what you might term the “downtown” of Mürren. It is very close to the Bergbahn (BLM) train station which is handy if you are taking the cable car up from Lauterbrunnen (changing to the train at Grütschalp). Bear in mind though there are two entry points into the village so if you are taking the cable car up from Stechelberg via Gimmelwald, the hotel is on the other side of the village from the cable car station at Mürren (though it is not a far walk, maybe 15 minutes in good conditions)

I had a single room with mountain view. There’s not much to say about it but It was fairly small, which did not bother me but the bed was comfortable. There was a TV and fridge and access to a balcony from which you can take in the views. Like most Swiss mountain ‘guesthouse’ hotels it was very clean. The room was cleaned everyday.

Breakfast in the morning is simple and typically Swiss. Some cheeses and meats, a selection of breads, juices and croissants with jams and the option for boiled eggs. The dining room, like other parts of the hotel had stunning views.

The owners were very nice and extremely helpful. When I travelled in early January, the village and the hotel were fairly quiet (still getting over the festive period, I suppose!)

I think everyone should visit Mürren once in their life, even if just to sample what heaven is really like. The Hotel Alpina is a very good place to stay if you decide to go.

Great week-end at the Alpina Hotel. We paid around 190 CHF per night for a small double room without view. Soundproofing between rooms is not great but is fine after a good day of ski.
The breakfast is simple but there is fair variety of choices. The breakfast/restaurant room has a stunning view on the Jungfrau mountains!!!

We had one of the family sized rooms - with a double bed downstairs downstairs and a mezzanine with 3 single beds upstairs, which the children loved. The furnishings were the eponymous alpine style. The bathroom and bedroom were spotlessly clean, and housekeeping was daily.

The buffet breakfast was very good and very reasonably priced.

The hotel is just on the edge of Kandersteg, the centre being only a 5 min walk away. Similarly the gondola to Oeschensee was a similar distance too. There were lots of good restaurants nearby. We’d recommend Hotel Bernerhof which is very close.

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Overall, Avery relaxing, family friendly hotel. We hope to be back.

Hotel Alpina was one our favorite hotels during a eurotrip. The views from the balconies are breathtaking. Highly recommend upgrading! Enjoyed the seating areas inside and outside of the room. Though the rooms are small, we didn’t mind since we spent most of our time outside anyway. Great location, close to trolley in and out of town, trails, eateries and shops. Breakfast and access to a local swimming pool/hot rob was included in our stay. We enjoyed dinner one night, which I would recommend making a reservation if you want a seat by the window. Staff was friendly and check in and out was very easy.

Alpine is one of the hotels with best views on a clear day. They have their hotel setup on the cliff overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley and the valley view rooms are having amazing views. We had stayed in the room facing the mountain & street and even those had great views.
The staff were really nice and helpful and guided us about most of the places to visit in and around Mürren. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday in the evening for 4 hours and serves Swiss delicacies. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of options including quite a few hot options.
The room is of decent size in comparison to the rooms available in the other hotels nearby. It was exceptionally clean in the bathroom and bedroom. The room heater was working perfectly to beat the Swiss mountain chillness.
The hotel even had a free jacuzzi which we didn’t get time to try. Overall it was a good value for money in comparison to other options in Mürren.

The view from our room was amazing, I couldn’t look over our balcony as we were literally on a mountain hill side and it was a long way down but we certainly had dinner and wine on the balcony. Shame the chairs are plastic but maybe that’s due to snow in winter 🤔. Be aware there are no lifts and there is a 3rd floor!
Our room was comfortable and not too small. BUT as a hotel I feel they are scrimping. There was no shampoo but a wall pump that I guess you use as body wash, bubble bath and shampoo. They provided no tissues. This to me was the worst thing, I had a bath, the water overflowed, there was NO DRAIN (is that legal?) on the floor so I used the bath mat and a towel to soak up the waters before it went out on the carpet, the next day I left the wet towels on the floor assuming it would be replaced but NO they hung the towels up! Wet and knowing they were on the ground. I found the cleaner and she replaced them. There is a note saying you have to put in bath to be replaced, seriously guys there is a thing called common sense, how gross for you to think it’s ok to rehang a wet towel. Next time I’ll let the carpet get wet.
I have to say the staff were really friendly but I can only give a 3 because they don’t care about hygiene.

Our family of four (two full-sized teens) stayed in the family room, which could also be two rooms with one shared bathroom. Each room had it's own sink, so that was nice. It was cramped quarters for three nights, especially when the town shuts down early and you have nowhere to go other than your room.

All in all, our stay was fine, but it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. That being said, the room was clean, the views from our room were spectacular, and the people were friendly. (we especially loved Maria- she's a sweetheart!) I do think they could focus on sprucing up the place a bit, especially given the price of the room. A little paint and decor goes a long way in making the place feel homey.

The breakfast was a typical European breakfast, but had fewer options available than any other place we encountered on our trip. It would be nice if they would mix up the selection every now and then; it was exactly the same each morning, so by the third morning, we were wanting something different.

The views and breakfast staff were the standouts at this hotel, but otherwise, it was just ok.

this hotel has a lovely restaurant with outdoor terrace perched on the west side cliff of the valley and an indoor, cozy room with large windows to maximize the mountain and valley views. The hamburger is not recommended; it is more like a meatloaf than hamburger. The salad is composed of extremely fresh greens picked that afternoon from their garden. The weinerschnitzel is spicy but the cranberry compote is delicious. Note that there are not many restaurants in Murren; most are attached to hotels and almost all close by 8:30 even in mid-summer.

Great location with a beautiful view of the mountains. We were offered a mountain view upgrade for a discounted price and I'm glad we went for it!
Friendly service and a delicious breakfast, too. I hope to be back someday!

My daughter and I stayed in Hotel Alpina for 2 days in August. It is one of the closest hotels to the train station (a blessing when you are hauling luggage). Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The beds were firm (but not too hard) and the shower had great pressure. There was a mini fridge in the room also. The continental breakfast was included, and was very good. We were on the 3rd (top) floor, which was a tiring walk up for me (not my daughter) after a day of hiking, but worth it for the view. We paid extra for a mountain view room, and it was SO worth it! The pictures do not do justice to the stunning views. I would definitely stay here again!

This is a very common practice throughout Europe. It is unusual to find an actual "American" double (whether full, queen, or king) mattress. Larger beds are almost always created by pushing two singles together.

Lucern to Lauterbrunnen Bahnhof takes at least 2 hours 40 minutes by train. Then you have to take the cable car to Grutschalp 10 to 15 minutes then the gauge train two stops to Murren past Winteregg at least 20 minutes. There’s no escalator some steep stairs at Murren. Turn left from the station and follow the road to the left once round the bend you will see a wooden shed on the left which is the ski shed for Hotel Alpina then the hotel almost 10 minutes walk from Murren station. Everything closes in Murren at 18:30 bar the sports centre and swimming pool at 21:00. Edelweiss hotel next to Hotel Alpina has some better eating options. Hotel Alpina is evening meals by request so you have to tell them in advance that you want food. So roughly a 4 hour transfer. To see the mountains Engelberg is much closer to Lucern than Murren. The bigger town of Wengen in the Jungfrau area has better eating options less than 15 minutes by train from Lauterbrunnen. On arrival at Lauterbrunnen remember to buy your cable car & train tickets from the touch screen machine not the car parking machine! Enjoy the scenery, the 007 museum at Piz Gloria. Remember to visit Jungfraujoch Top of Europe by train above Wengen. Murren is for skiers with the Inferno endurance race from Piz Gloria to Lauterbrunnen and mountain climbers much quieter than it’s noisy neighbour Wengen. It sounds like you should’ve picked to stay in Wengen. The owners are friendly at Hotel Alpina it is older decor but the views of the sheer drop mountain is good you are right close to the edge a 5000 foot drop straight down popular with paragliders and parachute people. You need to allow time for the train changes 3 or 4 trains before the cable car and gauge train to Murren. It can be a tiring journey bring plenty of snacks for the trains.

Dear Paulette, Thanks for your question. This rooms offer one of the better possible village views, There are also some mountains on that side and another positive is that you're able to enjoy the afternoon sun on the balcony. The dining room and breakfast area offer spectacular mountain views We look forward to welcome you in our hotel. Best regards Roger, Owner.

Yes, it is actually a small refrigerator, but left unstocked and empty for you to use yourself. Very useful during the Summer months for cold drinks, chocolate, etc. (it was like this when we visited in late July 17). Not particularly powerful, but certainly does its job - there is no motor to make a noise, which is good as the hotel is very peaceful.

The SBB website has excellent timetables. The earliest to be in Interlaken Ost leaves Murren at 6:06 and arrives there at 6:54. The earliest to be in Interlaken West is at 7:03. I recommend going to the website and seeing all of your options.
