We stayed at Eiger Guesthouse for 3 days. We booked two rooms for 5 adult men. When I booked online, I was skeptical. The rooms seemed small and it had shared bathroom facilities. I agreed to it because of the location and reasonable price.

After staying there, I was supremely impressed. Yes, the rooms are smaller than Americans are used to but that's true for anywhere in Europe. The beds were extremely comfortable, the showers were hot and amazing pressure and the restaurant downstairs is the best in Murren. The staff at Eiger Guesthouse was the most friendly and kind of all the places we visited (Hoten Alpenblick, Hotel Eiger, Hotel Edelweiss) plus the service was prompt and engaging (which was not true of anywhere else except Alpenblick).

The breakfast that is included is hot, fresh and delivered with a smile.

Thanks to everyone at Eiger Guesthouse for a wonderful stay in the Swiss Alps. We will be back again.

Our time was too short at this lovely, charming inn. Ema and all of the people who work at the Eiger Guesthouse are welcoming, warm and accommodating. Our room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful view. I found Muerren to be a peaceful and quiet place to visit and stroll. There were cafes and shops surrounded by spectacular views of the mountains. The food at the guesthouse was also quite delicious. We enjoyed aperitif, a surprise gift from a family member arranged through Ema on our balcony. I hope to visit again.

This guesthouse is perfectly located across street from the Mürren BLM station. It's about 5 min walk to the town center (Coop grocery store) and 10 min walk to the Schilthorn cabin car station. It's conveniently located for hiking/taking cable car up or down the mountains. Our family of four stayed in a family room (#7) with one double bed, bunk beds, and private shower/toilet. The on-site restaurant is excellent. Everything including breakfast and fondue was delicious. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

1st let me say it shouldn't be called ski in/out to get to the lifts you need to go up hill and across very icy or when melted road which is under a bridge/building.
Staff are very welcoming and helpful but the owner has a bit of a chip on her shoulder unless your a returning guess she speaks to you as if your bothering her then you'll see her tell her staff to do whatever it was you'd asked no matter how busy they are and then she'll go back to drinking or smoking with her friends.
As for the rooms we had a family room with bunk beds which would be great if they put a curtain up so kids can sleep earlier and a bed made of two singles which were ok to sleep in but really wouldn't stay any longer then 3-4 days maximum we did 7 and my back is dying for a good night's sleep and a massage. The room was made every day but not cleaned the best, just new towels and beds made. We came back many times to the same bits on the floor and cobwebs in very easy to reach places weren't removed at all.
Now storage they have a open wardrobe/hanger space but needs more even additional wall hooks wouldn't hurt.
Lighting in the room was weird with a large photo of a cow behind the bedhead that lit up when main lights were on and in the bathroom the fan was connected to the light and it was noisy as hell not stopping for more then 5+mins after the light was turned off which meant middle of the night toilet runs woke everyone up hopefully they can fix this.
Food was on point the 007 pizza with added salami was 10 out of 10 and when getting alcohol they could sure pour a good pour over pouring spirits and wine was good.
All in all if you just want a quick 3-4day cheaper opinion with friends NO KIDS and you don't mind carrying your things up the hill then you could use this place but if you want to stay longer and with kids look for something up closer to the sports center or a bit further up .

It’s been hot in Switzerland this season. So when it’s hot you want to get to some higher elevation, where you might expect the air to be cooler. The Berner Oberland is a great choice. And in the Berner Oberland, one of the best spots as a good base for hiking, and if you’re part insane, base jumping or paragliding. We chose to stay in Mürren, which you get to via train, and funicular, and then narrow gauge train, to the elevation of about a mile above sea level. But most importantly, in Mürren you are situated across the Lauterbrunnen Valley, from the great triple peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfraü. The view is amazing, and to stay down in Lauterbrunnen when this is so easy to access, is a shameful idea. So we stayed at the Eiger Guesthouse, which was originally a hotel in the late nineteenth century, and is now, as a guesthouse, expanding its size. It has a bar, a restaurant, and from the upper floors, a view that is worthy of hours of just sitting. Unfortunately, the expansion of the train station directly across the road is not as appealing a visual. But, as I say, the upper floors mitigate that issue to a great extent.
As with any hotel, the building is only part of the story. The real experience comes from the staff and service. And this is where the Eiger Guesthouse does its magic. The multilingual staff are friendly, informative, and simply fun. Upon entering to check in, we were greeted with smiles, and enthusiasm.

As we continued a three night stay, we experienced an excellent breakfast, good drinks (when necessary) and very good pizza, although the restaurant is also capable of the typical swiss fare. The chef, we were told, is Portuguese. The wait staff is a mixture of what I’m going to assume are seasonal workers, from all over Europe. I watched as the maitre d’ handled the typical grumpy North Americans, as well as the worn travelers from Spain and Austria, with aplomb. The friendliness of the staff made the Eiger Guesthouse a great stay.
Anywhere in Mürren is a good place to be. But the Eiger Guesthouse, near the station, but also in the town, is certainly my pick for my next visit.

Eiger Guesthouse is not luxurious, but has everything you need. Ema and her staff are wonderful and will do anything they can to help. My suitcase was stuck among over 1,000 at the Zurich airport and Ema made calls for me and even lent me a puffer that they sell to skiers in the winter. With her help, the bag even arrived before we left, which was a nightmare averted since we then went on to Italy. The restaurant was very good and among the most reasonably priced in town. The pizza is incredible and it was the only place that I didn't think the fondue was bland and boring. We spent our evenings on our balcony looking at the mountains and sipping Portuguese cognac, recommended by the staff. The Swiss Alps are fabulous and little low-key Murren (if you want a lot of restaurant choices, a spa, a variety of shops, or other amenities you should look into Wengen or Zermatt) and the warm and friendly Eiger Guesthouse are the place to see them!

Had a fantastic one night stay, room was really comfortable, staff were fantastic and really helpful. Dinner was very nice & breakfast was a great start for the day, you could so order eggs and coffee. Directly across from the train station, would definitely stay again.

Amazing experince! We arrived a litte bit early and the room was not ready yet so we dropped of our bags and sat down for a drink, the beer and the wine was really good. The room was cozy and clean, and so was the shared bathroom which were right outside our door.
Dinner and breakfast was 10/10, they even had gluten-free spaghetti to the dinner and gluten-free warm bread in the morning.

The staff are really friendly and they will do everything so you will feel welcomed!

We totally ecommend the Eiger Guesthouse.

From the minute we checked in we were treated like family. Ima and her staff are warm, full of great advice and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Recently renovated my room was clean and had a balcony with a stunning view of the alps. The bed was comfortable and the duvet very cozy. The room was spacious and decorated very cute. We ate dinner at the restaurant (the cheese Fondue) and it was very good. We had to leave very early on the day we checked out and they packed us a picnic lunch for the train so we wouldn’t be hungry. I definitely will stay here again!

We stayed in an en suite room on the 2nd floor (3rd floor for North Americans). The room was neat and clean, newer remodeled furnishings. Very good breakfast each morning set out by Ema with freshly baked bread. Pizza was very good, but suggest you have the pasta. Bolognese was excellent! As was the Carbonara! Warm welcome by Francisco and Jose when we arrived each evening, made us feel like we had stayed with them before. Will definitely stay at the Eiger Guesthouse the next time we travel to Murren.

How to get there from Geneva ?
Answer from delingard
Bern, Switzerland127 contributions53 helpful votes
Train from Geneva to Interlaken, you may have to change trains in Bern. From Interlaken take a local train or a bus to Lauterbrunnen. Cross the road from the station and you will find a cable car which takes you up the mountain and connects with a wee train that will then take you to Murren. The Eiger Guest House is just across the road. It all sounds a bit stressful but the Swiss transport system is excellent. I suggest you download the `SBB Trains‘ app. This is an excellent app. You can book your tickets, and also see your progress on the journey with reminders when to change stations etc. For the train from Geneva, buy a Supersaver ticket if you are sure of which train you are travelling on (buy this 2 weeks before travelling as it is a popular journey)otherwise a Saver ticket will also save money but not as much. Depending on what you intend to do in Switzerland you could also buy a Swiss Pass (half price) which will further reduce costs. It could also be used to reduce the cost of the trip up the cable car and train to Murren which is a Private company. The Swiss Pass can be used on all SBB trains and most cable cars and ships but not all, ask. I hope this helps, any problems, just ask.
