It has been a couple of years since I stayed in the Belvedere Hotel in Wengen so my wife and I decided to pay another visit in August for 13 nights. While we were on the train for the short journey from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen, I phoned the hotel reception and asked if they could send the porter with the electric truck to collect us and our luggage at the train station. Sure enough as soon as we got off the train we seen the porter waiting for us,
We booked into reception with Sophie giving us a warm welcome and gave us the key to our room, one which we have stayed in before.
The Belvedere Hotel was built in 1912 as an art nouveau hotel and enjoys one of the best and peaceful locations in Wengen.
Our room which was north facing had a double bed, a wardrobe with plenty of coat hangers, a writing desk, two chairs, a small table with tea and coffee making facilities and a luggage rack. Double glass doors opened onto the balcony with magnificent views onto the Jungfrau mountain and down the Lauterbrunnen Valley, The bathroom has twin wash hand basins, a bath and a strong shower.
Rooms were bright and kept clean daily by the house keeping team.
The Dining Room is bright and clean with large windows looking out to the mountains, Guests have the same table during the duration of their stay. On the table each morning is the menu for dinner that evening, along with a suggestion for wines to compliment the meal, and also the daily weather forecast. The Restaurant is managed by Peter Majoros who has been there many years, is very friendly with the guests and takes pride in his appearance. Peter not only supervises the restaurant staff, but is not afraid to help them if things are busy,
The Restaurant caters for guests with special dietary requirements. The chef is very good at telling those guests what the can or can't eat from the menu and if necessary, will prepare their meal separately. All meals are buffet style.
At the other end of the hotel is a wood panelled bar where one can relax with a drink or tea or coffee. If the weather is fine, you can sit out on the sun terrace and admire the views.
All hotels need a good manager, and the Belvedere Hotel has one of the best Managers that I have seen. Vincenza Franceschini is very competent and helpful. No question is too difficult for her and will go the extra mile to ensure her guests have an enjoyable stay at the hotel.

We stayed a week, booked from the UK through an agent (which offered a number of hotels) - we chose Belvedere for its traditional look and promises of being in a quiet location with stunning views. We got what we expected!

We had a good room with balcony views over the mountains. Its a short walk from the station up the hill - worth it as we heard others staying at hotels nearer the centre/station suffered noise at nights.

Food was well presented and varied buffet style - menus were well thought through and it was good to get away from steaks and chips!

The staff were good and attentive

My wife and I spent 5 nights at Hotel Belvedere, and this was by far the best hotel we have stayed at in Switzerland. The manager of the hotel, Madam Vincenza, was attentive to our needs, and went above and beyond in helping us feel as we were home. She anticipated our vegetarian breakfast needs and instructed the breakfast team to ensure our dietary needs are addressed, and the followed up with us on daily bases if our needs are being addressed.

Hotel was clean, well insulated with heat, and did I mention the view from the hotel was absolutely AMAZING! The team is well trained in the meaning of hospitality. Thank you for making it an amazing experience, we hope to see you soon!

This holiday was a late booking with a group. We were accommodated in rooms which were perfect for each of us - one couple, and three singles who wished to have individual rooms. Very clean, excellent wifi, and access to UK TV in rooms. The food was perfectly good with plenty of options, and the staff could not have been more courteous and helpful whatever the need was. The communal areas were comfortable and pleasant with bar facillities. It was about 5-7 minutes walk to the ski lift. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

A perfect christmas ski vacation in a fairytale snowy mountain landscape in stark contrast to the COVID crisis engulfing the outside world. We were picked up by the hotel electric mini bus at Wengen train station before a warm greeting by the management and staff. Our spacious traditional hotel room had a snow covered balcony overlooking the Jungfrau mountain and Lauterbrunnen valley. A couple of black squirrel's scampering up and down the fir trees nearby were close enough to touch. The magnificent winter panorama was animated by changes in cloud, sunlight, fog and snow storms. The restaurant breakfast buffet service with full eggs and bacon along with christmas turkey dinner and italian wine at our table with a view was first class. Apres ski was a pleasure, relaxing and soaking up the christmas atmosphere in the wood panelled bar with an enthusiastic live piano player, christmas tree and log fire together with handmade negroni cocktails served by the superb staff.

We spent a fantastic two weeks and found everything was up to the usual excellent standard.
The staff are friendly and always very helpful from manager to humble cleaner. There is always a smile and greeting when you pass.
The service is probably the best of any hotel we have stayed at and so is the food.
There is a wide choice at both breakfast and dinner so guests should rarely have any problems. If there is then Peter the restaurant manager is always attentive and helpful.

A very traditional and comfortable hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Our room was of a decent size and very clean. The hotel provide a transfer service from Wengen train station if you call them before you arrive. It is well located, just a 5-10 minute walk from the centre of town (and the cable car). Breakfast was excellent (particularly the cooked bacon!), and the bar/lounge area is very nice in the evenings. I would certainly recommend this hotel!

Travelled as a couple in a walking group. This hotel has an old fashioned rustic feel. Quiet location but easy 5 minute walk to the train station, cable car and well stocked co-op. Moderate sized rooms. Decor is a blast from the 70s all orange and yellow. Bathroom has a bath (great) and plentiful hot water. It is also terracotta/orange so remember those sunglasses! Comfortable beds. Heavy duvets. Good for winter but very hot for hot humid summer nights as we experienced. No air conditioning so leave windows open at night. Very few insects. There was one socket but a Swiss international adaptor in the wardrobe so you could use 3 items at once if you wanted to. No piped music throughout the hotel which was great. Good internet. Food was a reasonable range of home cooked meals to suit various diets. This is repeated weekly. Lovely sunny terrace next to the bar, no natural shade though here. Reasonable prices for wine/drinks. Service a bit slow for drinks at the dining room so order all you want at the start of the meal. Bring your own travel kettle for drinks in your room or for flasks. Mountain restaurants are pricey as you can expect so if you want a packed lunch you need to go to one of the two well stocked mini markets in town which cater well for daily packed lunches and are open from 8am. Welcoming hotel just opposite the cinema.

The Belvedere is a perfect match for the magnificent views and peace and quiet of Wengen in a very comfortable setting. Choose a mountain view room for fine views all the time, although there are many public areas to enjoy them too.
Wonderful friendly staff with special kudos to Sophia at reception, Peter in the dining room and the chef.
Wished we had taken the option of full board at a slightly reduced rate for our 4 day stay. The food was consistently excellent served buffet style with a different fine selection for all tastes each evening.
Safe Covid care throughout

Very short walk with beautiful views and many shops and restaurants. Maybe about 5 minutes. The Wal there is all uphill. On the way back it is down. There was no burner or stove in our room so no tea kettle.
