We first encountered Hotel Falken in 1982 when we spent Christmas there, and were very impressed with the friendliness of this traditional family run hotel. We have been returning with friends and family ever since. There is something very special about the place. The staff...More
This was our first holiday to Switzerland and I had researched long and hard to find the right hotel and resort. It was certainly worth the effort, the hotel was delightful, very traditional and offering great service. It felt as if we had come home,...More
This is a very special hotel. We return to it knowing that the welcome is heartfelt and genuine, that nothing is too much trouble for the family and that we will have a most enjoyable stay. Mountain view rooms have modern facilities, balconies with afternoon...More
I agree with another reviewer that this is a hard hotel to rate. It is an historic hotel with a lot of ambience--very comfortable bar and lounge area with music in the afternoon. The staff is very friendly and the food was good. My room...More

Coming down the mountain you can ski straight to the hotel and onwards to the lift if you want.

We had the breakfast package for Hotel Falken and had dinner at Sina's which was spectacular. Falken has a wonderful formal dining room with linen and silver. At breakfast, guests are dressed for their day of skiing or hiking, depending on the season. If you email the hotel, they will give you a practical answer on the dinner dress code. Through the week they have some buffet dinners. The town is very outdoorsy casual.
We don't have any experience with the Swiss card, but the fare to the Top of Europe is pricey and not covered by a Eurail pass. If it works with your schedule, try to go on a clear day. The Ice Palace was my favorite. My children really enjoyed the sledding. Try fondue or raclat or rosti for lunch while you are there.
