I tried the Alden for the first time on my last trip to Zurich. Previously, I had stayed in the Park Hyatt. It is a very elegant hotel tucked away on a quiet side street about 1 km from Bahnhofstrasse. The room was very spacious, clean and well appointed. The staff provided excellent "old school" service. I would heartily recommend... More

The Alden is indeed spacious, although you pay greatly for what you don't use and what you do use. The "concierge service" can hardly be described as such unless you're willing to fix what they can't and find what they aren't able to. However, the food service employees were extremely friendly and helpful and offered very good dinning suggestions. If... More

We only stayed in this fabulous hotel for 3 nights. The staff were great. We were received late (midnight) by Hans-Jorgen who was delightful. He couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and had a quirky sense of humour, which was really appreciated after a long train ride into Zurich and such a late arrival. Our room was fabulous -... This hotel is excellently located, 2 small blocks from the Lake, a couple of tram stops to the centre of old town (you can catch the tram either few streets up or alongside the lake), there is also train station Enge few minutes away. It is a small boutique hotel, classy, beautifully presented without trying too hard. The really lovely... More

We stayed here for one week for a business conference held in Zurich. I found an online special at Expedia which made the price per night comparable to the Marriott. We were so glad we chose this hotel. From the moment we entered, they did everything to make our stay enjoyable, including letting us check in as soon as a... More

I have mixed feelings in writing this review, as there was much I liked about the Alden and I know that it compares well with other Zurich hotels at least when you consider the price/value equation. However at the end of a recent 4 day stay there in a junior suite I did not feel like I had stayed in... More

I really enjoyed my stay with the Alden. The service was excellent, always friendly. By and large I didn't find Switzerland the friendliest of destinations so I found the Alden notable in this regard. I had a junior suite which was very large by Swiss standards and the room was very clean. The fittings are not the most luxurious, but... More

We stayed one night in a junior suite (on check-in we were offered an upgrade from the double room we'd booked), and were exceptionally pleased with all aspects of the experience. The location is very good -- a quiet street, but a short walk from Bahnhofstrasse. The staff were professional, helpful and friendly. Relative to other hotels in Zurich we... More

If you want quality service in a small luxury hotel, in a good location in Zurich, this is the place. Switzerland is to hotel management as France is to cuisine, and this hotel is classical Swiss in every detail, from cleanliness to personal attention. Cudos to the manager and her devoted staff.

The Alden Hotel Splugenschloss is a perfect place to discover all that is Zurich. The staff is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. The rooms (or suites) are large and make you feel as if you are in an apartment in the heart of the city. It's location is ideal as it's in walking distance to everything you want to experience within... More
