Stayed two nights in largest shepherds hut. Whole site was clean and tidy. Accommodation was clean and tidy, good views, good shower/toilet facilities. Quiet as was October. Shop was useful and well stocked. My only gripe would be that the mattress fid not fit the bed, was actually two ultra thin singles on hard frame. Very uncomfortable indeed.such a shame and given its the same cost as an hotel, I would expect a proper mattress.
We have stayed with scamper holidays before.... 1st time was absolutely lovely and we enjoyed every minute! We stayed in the pod with the van. 2nd time.... slightly disappointed. I found the pod to not be very clean and I found myself cleaning again when we were in there (floors needed sweeping, tops needed wiping so did the fridge) bed was very comfortable, good cooking facilities and a good table to eat at. Comfortable for 2 people. We was offered an amazing offer for one night and were very thankful for that. But I do feel the original prices they quote are over priced for what you have. We would stay again but we will probably bring our own camping gear.
Let's start with the positives. Wonderful location, friendly helpful staff. But while the accommodation is warm and comfortable it is oversold and tiny. Not possible to cook and eat at the same time and next to zero storage for clothes or anything else. We stayed in a grand shepherds hut the apparently sleeps up to 5 and it felt crowded with three of us. At around £140/night you would be better of in a self catering cottage or a mobile home.
We had an amazing week at Scampers, everything was perfect apart from the weather. We stayed in a Timber Tent and we had absolutely everything we needed, we used the gas BBQ every day and that was great for cooking. Loved all the little extras that were added in, like the welcoming pack and all the compliment shampoo and shower gels, better than some of the Hotels you go to, even a bottle of Prosseco. Everything was clean also showers and toilets. We were greeted by Emma and shown around also met Daniel and really lovely that Mark came down to meet us and asked us how everything was. What a lovely team always ready to help. Perfect location, we really lover Mewslade Beach walking distance. Will be going back in December.
Loved, loved, loved our visit to The Gower peninsular and our stay with Scamper. We stayed at the Llangennith site and had a great time. From the moment I rang up to book the Scamper team went out of their way to be helpful. It was a last minute break with awkward dates but nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in one of their timber tents and it was perfect for the two of us. It had everything we needed. A comfortable bed, spotlessly clean, plenty of towels and cosy blankets and some delicious welcome treats. It was just bliss to sit out on our own veranda after a busy day with a glass of wine watching the sunset. I'm not a camping fan but we didn't need to worry about anything, it was all provided. The Scamper site is part of the wider Kennetstone camp site and this was also well maintained. In fact my partner said that the washing, shower and toilet facilities were the best he had ever experienced. What really added to our stay was the scamper ranger Sophie. She was professional and friendly right from the start. Her love of the local area was infectious and she suggested some amazing walks which took us to parts most people don't visit. If you stay be sure to ask her about local walks and top tips - especially the community shop which served the most amazing cakes. I could go on but I would highly recommend staying there if you are visiting the Gower and fancy a step up from camping. Thank you Scamper.…
