We were on the top floor, so had 4 flights of very steep stairs to climb. Rooms were a bit small and very basic but I found it quieter than expected which meant a decent nights sleep. Staff were friendly and very welcoming

This place might be basic, the stairs are a killer, there might only be one pillow on the bed but I enjoyed my stay so much. The guys on reception are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is delicious. The location is excellent and the price really good. I will be back.

Ideal hotel for a group of friends - 2,3 and 5 bedrooms. We went recently for a Stag Party and the place was ideal. Not a dump aimed at a group of lads by any means - nice hotel, smart stylish rooms, modern and a good feel to the place. Breakfast available (if you are awake!), pool table, good bar,...

Check in was efficient and all the staff were friendly and professional. Stayed downstairs opposite the shared bathrooms. Did not sleep for 2 days with the lack of soundproofing, doors slamming and cleaners going about their work. Try and get a room upstairs as downstairs was definitely not worth the money we paid

I booked a single room for a 1 night stay at the Backstage Hotel a few days ago. I found an incredible last minute deal on TripAdvisor and paid about $60. The hotel needs a rehab asap, but the decor is kitschy, staff friendly, and location unbeatable. My room shared a hall bath and shower, but I was pleased to...

An amazing find. Comfortable beds, in a delightful "backstage" themed room. The bar downstairs is turned into a delicious breakfast buffet (definitely try the granola). Staff was friendly and welcoming, holding our bags after checkout so we could have a walk around the canals. Perfect location for walking around the city.

The hotel is situated behind Leidse Square, which is the center of the night life of Amsterdam. The hotel is in a very quiet, little street,so you get a good night's sleep, even though you're right in the center of Amsterdam. The rooms are small, but very clean, and the staff is really friendly

Strange at the breakfast, that you crack an egg open and fry it by yourself. I did not want to screw anything, so I just had something different for the breakfast. But the staff is really helpful and nice, they fixed my heating and the knob on my door very quickly upon request!

This hotel was cozy, fun, and a perfect location. I purposely chose this one because it's so close to everything I wanted to see, and I didn't want to have to be taking a lot of public transportation to get back to a hotel at the end of the day, or too late at night. (Especially since I would be...

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
