Great location! Very noisy, but if you want to be in the center of red light district this is a beautiful place to stay! The owners are very nice and accommodating. Highly recommended! Private bathroom, awesome shower and super comfortable bed.

Made welcome. Everything we needed in room including a fridge. Let us leave luggage there on last day and made to feel very welcome. Left a breakfast pack of rolls and spreads and coffees and teas. Its basic but all you need. Thanks for a great stay.

We stayed in the white room for 3 nights at the end of October. The stairs really are as awful as other people have said. The room was not clean, it was full of dust. The whole B&B could do with a lick of paint. The breakfast was not appetising and we only ate it one day. The towels were... More

This place is very close to the train station, and right on the edge of the red light district. We stayed in the black and white room, which is on the back of the building. We were actually surprised by how quiet it was, especially considering our location. The room was large and airy, with big windows and neat old... More

We had a great 3 nights here. Easy to find from the central train station. Located right in the city centre. Red light district is literally a 30 second walk away! Fast WIFI. Breakfast was great each morning and the staff were super friendly. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when we return to Amsterdam!

We stayed in Amsterdam from 1st to 4th May 2015. The b&b is exactly in the Red Light District, in front of one of the many canals in Amsterdam. The b&b is quite nice, very good for the position, 5 minutes walking from Dam Square and 10 minutes from Centraal Station. We stayed in the white room in the back... More

Fire safety is a big concern. No notices whatsoever and on 2nd floor with one wooden stair access. No toiletries was a bad start so had to go out immediately to buy hand soap, etc. Lots of little niggles that show attention not being paid to small items that can make a stay special - or even convenient. Location on... More

We stayed in The White Room for 2 days then moved into The Black Room for 1 night. The White room was in the front of the building and had double windows you could open and watch people mingling in the street below (very quiet when closed). The bed was a bit weird to climb on to (a bit like... More

We stayed two nights here in October. It was fairly easy to find using Googlemaps. We were able to check in earlier which was appreciated. The room was clean, fair-sized and comfortable enough for our stay. Location was ideal for exploring Amsterdam, literally right by the red light district which was initially a concern but wasn't a real issue once... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
