The hotel was in a great location for getting around. However the excellent location meant that our room was very noisy. If possible ask for a room that does not face the front because the noise did not stop all night. Despite the noise, the rooms were clean, if a little small, the towels were changed daily and the staff...

Hotel cc in Amsterdam,is central and great for shopping, bars, restaurants, red light area and sightseeing. The hotel is very clean but the standard rooms are very small indeed, there was no wardrobe to hang clothes in.If you go to this hotel get a room with a view of the canal,as we didnt have any view in room 102 just looking at a brick wall...

Very average hotel and was very overpriced for what it was. On the positive side it's very close to everything and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you can get a good deal I would recommend however don't pay over the odds!!

lots of basic hotels some are ok some are downright youth hostel ish, a lot do not offer breakfast so you have to wonder around the streets to find a decent place to eat . most of the people are very polite and laid back , probably due to the volume of smoke coming out of the pubs and smoking...

Only stayed for one night, very convenient location close to the main train station and in the centre of Amsterdam. Pleasant and quick check-in and rooms were ok, if a little small. All very clean though and had everything you need. It was a bit pricy for what it was but guess that's partly down to the location and being...

This hotel is right on the edge of the Red Light District and surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops. There is no normal vehicle access to this road so we were dropped off around 100 yards down the road and likewise pickup was other end....no real hassle. Staff were friendly and helpful and all areas kept clean. The room we...

We booked two rooms as there were no family rooms available. The staff were not very helpful when we mentioned that we had requested (in writing) that the two rooms be side-by-side as we were travelling with our children. One of the receptioncists offered us another room and we took the key to check it out. We had to travel...

I stayed in this hotel, with my friend for a 4 day away break in Amsterdam, it is very close to everything, busy location but you cant hear the noise from your bedroom, well, I didnt from my bedroom. I would recommend this hotel to business users or adult guests. I did not see any children on site and it...

we had four twin rooms here and they were all quite quirky but very clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic but despite being in the thick of it, the room I stayed in was very quiet. There didn't seem to be anywhere for breakfast but as we like to go out, this wasn't a problem for us.

The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the station, and is tucked just behind the main road to damn square. We had booked a basic room as we were only there for a night. When we got there, at 11ish, the front desk kindly let us have a ready room long before check in at 2. The man...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
