Just returned from a four night break at the lovely Posthoorn. From my first email enquiry we received very prompt precise answers to all our questions, from the moment we arrived to the time we left we were given the full of attention of Francois. We stayed at the Posthoorn for 3 nights in April. It was absolutely wonderful. Our room (the canal view room) was just beautiful, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Francois was the perfect host and went out of his way to provide everything we needed. The location is great, so much quieter than other areas of Amsterdam. We highly recommend the...

Everything was wonderful, the good taste was everywhere and Francois is the perfect host and the kindly, brilliant and charming dutch (french) man. We booked here even in October 2011 and we aren't disappointed in any aspect. The Posthoorn is the image of...

and let's talk about Amsterdam! Easy to say, hard to do... To talk, or write, you must first get out of the feeling of unreal that you are after everything you saw and you lived in the few days spent here. So, can you do it, you need to go there, feel the pulse of the city, see the set...

My wife and are are partial to small hotels and B&B's , and in the Posthoorn , we came upon a gem ! The building is wonderfully situated , within walking distance of more attractions than our 5 day stay could encompass ; and the walks themselves soon became a major attraction for us . What a marvellous area !...

I travelled with my family to Amsterdam and stayed at the Posthoorn 4 nights. The house is very well located in a central area of Amsterdam facing one of the canals and in a very quiet and calm area. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Housed within the fine walls of a listed historical 17th century canal house on one of Amsterdam's most picturesque canals in the heart of the city - the Prinsengracht - part of the UNESCO World Heritage, The Posthoorn Bed and Breakfast features three charming rooms which offer guests four-star luxury whilst staying in the Jordaan district. The Canal View Room, Patio Room and Hidden Church Room ooze opulent and stylish character within the pleasant atmosphere of this contemporary bed and breakfast flawlessly disguised in the old-fashioned exterior of this canal house. The history behind this interesting building dates back to 1578, during which time Catholics were refused to visit their churches so several hidden churches were built in private houses. Around 1650, one was built in the basement of what stands as The Posthoon today and if you wish the owner will be pleased to tell you the history of the house. The elegant decor of The Posthoorn is boasted throughout each and every room. The livingspaces feature a flat-screen cable TV, en-suite bathroom with under-floor heating, comfortable sofas, free wireless internet. In each room you will find a kitchenette including coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator complete with white wine, beer, orange juice, milk and mineral water. Full continental breakfast including freshly baked bread and croissants is served to guests in their room each morning. Staff aim to make guests' stay at the Posthoorn memorable. ... more   less
