We were in Amsterdam for a big festival and the city was PACKED. The hotel's location on the South side near Vondelpark turned out to be a big advantage. We were able to escape the crowds and decompress a bit before getting back to the party. The hotel's Honor Bar was a nice touch as well. Great hotel, location, and...

This is a boutique hotel located on a side street. However, it is right in the heart of the museums, restaurants and transportation and high end shopping district. You can walk everywhere if you wanted to. Unfortunately I became very ill at the beginning of my stay and this incredible young Asian (I am so sorry I forgot his name)...

Great location in museum district. Felt it was fairly expensive for what it is. Rooms are comfortable, small, fine for city. Well designed but pretty basic. Had v loud dripping tap in room 307. Staff were v friendly. Overall pretty happy but nothing remarkable. Would probably get trumped by a good airb&b alternative especially at this price. Major roadworks on...

Pleasant hotel, very helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms. You can rent a bike for half a day or one day, it saves you the trouble with leaving the bike somewhere else. It is close to Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark and within walking distance to the canals. There is also a supermarket close by and lots of coffee places around.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
