I have just returned from a long weekend and I can't fault the property or the organisation of the owner. We have just experienced one of the most relaxing weekends in a quiet suburb of Amsterdam, a short tram ride away from the centre, with enough local amenities if you don't even want to do that. This was an all-round bad experience..... Firstly, we got there nice & early & waited outside the owner's house (as they weren't in), looking directly at the boat. The immediate impression wasn't good - the boat is not moored on a leafy canal side as shown in the pictures, it was in a canal in what looked a run down...

The Vondelpark lies at a 10-minute walking distance and there are also several restaurants nearby.The houseboat features a large double bed, a kitchen, LCD television and wireless internet. It is a fun experience to spend the night on a boat, with a lovely view of a typical Amsterdam canal.With tram 2, which has a stop nearby, you pass the vibrant Leidseplein and Dam square on your way to the Central Station. Underway it is fun to visit the Rijksmuseum, or take a picture with world famous celebrities in the wax statue museum Madame Tussauds. If you wish to learn more about the history of Amsterdam, hop on one of the guided canal boat tours in the city centre.Food and DrinksA complimentary bottle of wine and some beers will be in the refridgerator upon arrival. Tea and Coffee are also complimentary throughout the whole stay. At 100 metres from the houseboat you can get some groceries to prepare your own breakfast. In the vicinity there are several restaurants, for instance along the Heemstedestraat. You can also catch a tram to the Leidseplein, which is surrounded by a wide array of restaurants and bars.InternetYou can make free use of wirelss internet, for which you will receive a password upon arrival.Other information- There is no 24-hour reception. You can check in until 17:00 h.- Only cash payments are accepted.- A third adult can sleep on the sofa at an additional charge of €50. You can state this in the remark field on the booking form.- Pets are not allowed.SurroundingsEnjoy a peaceful night on the water during your stay at Amsterdam Canal Boat. From here you can catch a tram to the city centre, or go for a walk to the Leidseplein via the public park Vondelpark. However, the best way to get around Amsterdam is on a bicycle, which can be rented all throughout the centre.
