We booked here based on reviews and I'll say all the positive reviews were spot on, and any negative reviews were obviously made by picky people who can't be pleased. The whole concept is different. It's really a town house with many rooms. We had a medium room on the 3rd floor. It was perfect. For a European size room, it was quite spacious with a king bed that provided excellent sleep. The bathroom was large and had a double sink. There were multiple USB ports on both sides of the bed for charging phones and other devices. The drapes did a great job keeping out the light and the balcony was a very nice extra. There is a bar downstairs with different top shelf liquors and you can help yourself to whatever you want. There is a machine that makes any kind of coffee drink you want that's always available, plus other snacks throughout the day, including wine and cheese in the afternoon. The breakfast is a little sparse but was nonetheless excellent and provided all the energy we needed each day. The location was excellent, just one block away from the museum complex, but very quiet. The last and most important thing I'll mention is the staff. Everyone was very friendly, polite, and helpful. If we return to Amsterdam, we will definitely stay here again. Five stars.

We’d stayed here before pre-Covid, and it lived up to our memory. Aside from the obvious benefits of a brilliant location, the staff are unfailingly friendly and professional. As a couple of people have noted, you need to take note of room size when booking. Our room was compact but comfortable and well-equipped. Let’s face it - when you’re in Amsterdam you want to be out and about, so we didn’t need a spacious room. There’s also a comfortable lounge by Reception, so if you want a relaxing sit down with a drink the option is there.

Dear Mr Kemp, Thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Amsterdam, and for taking the time to leave us a feedback. We greatly appreciate the five star review. Firstly, we would like to thank you for your kind words towards the staff. We go to great lengths to lend a hand to our guests whenever possible, and we deeply appreciate that our efforts are recognized. It it is wonderful you could take advantage of our location. Many guests choose to stay with us because of our proximity to some of the most well-know cultural attractions in the city. Nonetheless, the closeness to such an important tourist area does not affect how peaceful the neighborhood is. It is a pleasure to read you enjoyed the quiet aspect of this area as well. Once again, thank you for your kind words. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back at Jan Luyken Hotel. Kind regards, Maarten Benschop General Manager

Amazing hotel in a perfect and quiet location near Museumplein and Peter Cornelisz Street. The hotel is cozy, well appointed and decorated. One can find here everything that needs on vacation plus a super special concept that makes Jan Luyken Hotel feel like home. All day long one can indulge with treats and beverages courtesy of the hotel in the library, dining or on the hotel terrace. The most amazing thing about this hotel is The Team, a bunch of young, very nice, polite and customer oriented people. Always smiling, always on hand, always there to meet guests needs and demands. Special thanks to Alexandra and the rest of the team on our behalf. I can't wait to be back, and so we shall.

This was a wonderful find, very easy walk to the museums , park, and restaurants. The staff were all friendly. The room was small but had everything we needed. The tub/shower was a little tricky (small, slippery). The bed was comfortable, and the room very clean. Downstairs there is a cozy lounge to relax with a complementary drink. Breakfast was croissants, breads, fruit, yogurt, and yummy smoked salmon. This was a great stay!

Dear donnadC9861QH, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are happy to hear that you had a pleasant stay in our cosy small rooms. We are glad that you enjoyed the quiet location of our townhouse, which is located within walking distance from major sights. We are also happy to see your comments regarding our library and that you enjoyed our complimentary drinks. However, we are sorry to hear that the shower was not ideal. We do provide anti-slip matts based on request so we would love to be able to provide you with a better experience next time. Please do not hesitate to share your concerns with our staff, no matter how small they might be because your comfort is our top priority. We appreciate your kind words about our staff and hope to welcome you back to our townhouse again! Best regards, Veronica Poli Senior House Manager

Our room was clean and comfortable. Being so close to the Museumplein and Vondelpark was amazing. But the best part of this hotel is the main areas where you can relax, read or chat with others, help yourself to a snack or drink. That made this place really feel like "home" for our stay. Perfect service from the friendly staff. Thank you!!

We recently stayed 4 nights at the Jan Luyken hotel and had a very nice medium size room at the front of the hotel with everything you could wish for including a very large comfortable bed! The hotel is located in a lovely area on a tree lined street and is a pleasant 25 min walk into the centre of the city or a 5 min walk to the Leidseplein area which has a variety of nice shops, bars, restaurants etc. The airport express bus 397 stops just around the corner from the hotel and runs regularly throughout the day. Trams 2 & 12 are also available nearby to take you into the city centre if you don't want to walk. All the hotel staff were very nice and helpful and we particularly enjoyed the breakfast and snacks and complimentary drinks in the evening in the lovely communal areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Jan Luyken hotel.

The photos used on the website gives a false feeling regarding the rooms. The room we had booked had full windows and a different layout versus the room we were presented upon check-in. The staff could not present an alternative solution.

Dear passerby9999, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback regarding your recent stay at Jan Luyken Amsterdam. Although we are glad to know that you were able to enjoy our prime location and had a good night rest in our townhouse, we deeply regret to hear about your disappointment with the discrepancies between the photos on our website and the room you received upon check in. Jan Luyken is situated within three monumental Amsterdam buildings with different plannings and even numbers of floors. This means that our rooms do have different layouts within the same category. And although we cannot post photos of every room separately, we understand how important it is to have a clear overview of the accommodation you are booking. We are sorry to know the room did not meet your expectations and will definitely review our selection of pictures that represent our room categories. We regret to hear that our team was unable to provide you with a solution on the spot. We always strive to provide the best experience for our guests and resolve any issues as soon as they are spotted, yet sometimes unfortunately it is not possible to offer a different room in the evening while being fully booked. Once again, we apologize for falling short of your expectations and thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the exceptional experience that you deserve. Warm regards, Veronica Poli Senior House Manager
