We loved our stay at the historic Hotel Americain Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam. Location is amazing, next to bustling Liedseplein with its legions of restaurants at all price points, many of them quite good if you avoid the tourist traps.
Our Junior Suite was wonderfully comfortable, with a huge seating area next to a large bay window which overlooked a busy canal. Even though there is a busy road across the canal, with the windows shut we had complete silence for sleeping.
Everything was in good order. While we didn’t love the rather dark, clashing decor, or the basins directly beside the bed, it didn’t matter. The super king bed was world-class comfortable, the shower had great pressure and the bathtub was perfect for soaking in after a long day in the museums ( most of which are a short stroll away ). The bathroom floor was heated. The TV had a great selection of channels and easy streaming capability.
Breakfast was quite fine, and served by friendly staff. You can order egg dishes if tiring of the ample buffet choices. The breakfast room is splendid, with high ceilings, beautiful Art Deco chandeliers, and big potted plants by the windows.
Maybe housekeeping could have dusted the corners a bit better, but overall this hotel represents amazing value in pricey Amsterdam. Book direct, we saved quite a bit over our six night stay. Even though we’ve stayed at some top- class choices in Amsterdam, we will most likely stay here in future.

My husband and I spent the weekend at the hotel. It just opened on 12th June. All the staff were very helpful, but I would like to give special attention to David the concierge who anticipated our every need. The location is excellent, close to the shops and the trams stop just outside if you don’t want to walk, a day card is currently 8€ if you are using it a few times it’s really worthwhile. Boat trips run from right out front; David will make the booking for you if you want. The breakfast is very good and I love the Art Deco in the cafe american where the breakfast is served. We chose a canal view room, which had everything we could need. We will definitely stay there again.

Very convenient location close to Van Goth, Rijksmuseum and Moco museum and a 30min walk to Dam Square and other sites such Ann Frank Haus etc.

The hotel is beautifully decorated by Hard Rock with modern amenities although we would have liked a full size ironing board. There is a onsite cafe and bar which is nice although pricey and the hotel tends to cater to an older clientele.

The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our visit was for a 30th birthday and we had additional requests such as flowers in room and on arrival we were given an upgrade to a superior room.

We would recommend the memorabilia tour at the hotel which happens once a month.

The hard Rock hotel was in a great location, in terms of both walking about central Amsterdam, but also for getting on and off the trams to different parts of the city. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was well worth it - lots of choice of cold and hot options from a buffet. The rooms were variable, we travelled with two friends (2 couples). Our room was quite compact, with not a lot of space ot move around the bed, which was also a standard double size. BUT we had a lovely view out the front of the hotel and could see the canal. Our friends had a HUGE room, with a massive bed, but their view was of the gutters....
The staff were all friendly and helpful, particularly the concierges who helped with luggage, booked us a taxi to return to the airport and were generally chatty and pleasant.
The bar served some great cocktails, although these were pricey. Service was good in the bar.
criticisms - hairdryer with such a short lead that you couldn't actually plug it in and see in a mirror!

I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam in September 2022 for four nights while attending a conference. With one exception I was very pleased with my stay. The property is in a great location. While it's an historic building it appears to have been very well maintained and my room was very current in terms of furnishings and amenities. I was also able to check in early (around 11AM) without difficulty.

The hotel has a great sense of style with lots of music memorabilia and fun touches (e.g. guitar amps in the rooms, record players and guitars available upon request). The breakfast was excellent with a wide array of healthy and hearty options. Staff at the hotel was always courteous and also exhibited some personality.

The one caveat? The rooms facing the fountain (mine was 322) are quite loud, primarily due to the trams which run essentially constantly from ~6:30AM - midnight, but also from the many people in and around the square. Even with the balcony doors closed the noise is significant. I got earplugs from the front desk, but if you are a sensitive sleeper you should definitely request a room on one of the other sides (I imagine the side facing the canal would be by far the most quiet).

Dear BillShepp, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us here at the Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American. I am thrilled to see that you enjoyed our art deco/rock 'n roll vibe and that our location, furnishings, musical memorabilia and amenities exceeded your expectations. I am also pleased that our band members left a positive impression on you. It is of course disappointing to hear that you experienced some noise disturbance, for which I truly apologise. As we are located right in the heart of the city, on the junction with the Leidseplein, unfortunately it is inevitable that from time to time, you may hear some external noise. Usually this does not bother our guests so I am sorry to hear that it was an inconvenience to you. However, as you mention, we do have other rooms at the side and back of the hotel that are quieter so hopefully next time, when booking directly with us, we can allocate you one of these rooms. Thank you so much for being our guest. My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend recently and loved it! This isn't like the massive Hard Rock Resorts we've stayed at in the Caribbean and Mexico rather it's a posh, high end charming hotel with a great bar/restaurant called the American. We received an early check-in which was excellent and Brahm was most welcoming and even showed us to our Rock Royalty room. The room was fantastic and huge overlooking a canal. The room was very large and comfortable with a spa-like bathroom and even came with a sound system to play music from our phones. I highly recommend upgrading to Rock Royalty. Not only was the upgraded RR room amazing, you get a free stocked minibar replenished on demand and access to the RR area where you can get free lunch and soft drinks in the afternoon and unlimited wine/beer/snacks in the evening. I want to recognize Theo would took great care of us. The location is excellent right near the museum district, canal tours and lots of restaurants including the Hard Rock Cafe. We loved it here and will be back!

Hey Ryan, Thank you so much for this awesome review and for being a super Hard Rock Hotel fan. We are indeed different from some other Hard Rock Hotels due to the fact that we are more boutique, but our vibe and amenities and fantastic band members are similar throughout the group. I am so grateful for your compliments about the hotel, from the spacious room that you booked, to the Rock Royalty package that you so clearly described; and from our amazing city centre location in the heart of Amsterdam, to our popular Cafe Americain and Bar Americain. But most of all I would like to thank you for complimenting Brahm and Theo on a job well done. Like the rest of the team they are true assets to the hotel and we would not be as successful as we are today if it was not for their hard work and commitment. On behalf of all of us here at the Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American, it was a joy having you and we hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly for your next booking so that we can look after any special requests that you may have. Stayed for a 3 night break. The hotel itself is nice although the rooms are small. Our room in particular had only one window which looked out onto the gold gorilla and not outside . (Room 131) The pillows were awful and the noise outside this room was awful. There is a pub/club across the road and the trams run until midnight and then start again at 6. The windows need to be made soundproof. The location is good and it’s not far into the centre. We had breakfast included and this was the highlight of our stay. The selection of food was great and the setting was stunning. In particular Carlos made it for us. An amazing man with the best moustache we have ever seen who couldn’t have been nicer to us. We would come back to the hotel just to see him. The other problem we had with this hotel was my sons room. when he was out someone accessed his account online which he was logged onto on the rooms tv and watched a Dutch podcast. The towels in the room had been changed but the rest of the room hadn’t be touched which to me implies that the cleaner has began cleaning the room and decided to take a break. We addressed this with staff. No one came back to us before we left to let us know if they had checked the cameras to see who it was. Even when it was being discussed at reception one member of staff was particularly uninterested. For the price we paid for this hotel I think there could definitely be some improvements.

Dear linda, I am delighted to read that not only was Carlos a star band member but that you are a fan of his moustache and that breakfast was the highlight of your stay. I am of course disappointed that the rest of your experience was not as positive as it should have been and I have investigated further to find out what happened. Although it is not an excuse, we are still in the process of training new housekeepers due to the fact that business is finally on the up and unfortunately it was one of the lesser experienced housekeepers that was responsible for cleaning your son's room. Having said that, what happened should not have happened and I sincerely apologise for this. If you would like to discuss your stay with me in more detail then I would be more than happy to hear from you. Kind regards Claire van Campen, General Manager

Firstly this hotel isn’t cheap but our room with a balcony overlooking the canal was worth it, a good size, very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast has a good choice and is served until 11:30 so you can enjoy a late start if you want to. It has the normal pastries and meats you would expect along with some hot items all of which are buffet style. You can additionally order pancakes, omelettes, fried eggs etc from your waiter. The only reason I marked the hotel down was the reception which was rather abysmal. Quite slow checking us in and checking us out where we waited over 15 minutes so missed our train to Brussels. I appreciate they were having issues with their credit card machines but they just needed to open all the desks to get the queue cleared more promptly. I also don’t understand why people answer the reception phone and their mobile while serving customers, the focus should be me at that time and no one else and was frustrating as I was attempting to catch a train. My only other run in with reception was late at night when both our key cards stopped working, a very helpful slim black guy was sorting it but this bigger lady just kept butting in and was not being helpful or customer focused at all. She could learn some customer care tips from younger lad and maybe not blame the customers for the issues with the room key. Blaming the deactivation on other cards or a mobile could be the case if one card has stopped but both was rather unlikely.

If I may start with the positives. Great location, great cocktails, awesome dining room and great bag storage service. This is the fifth hotel we have stayed at in Amsterdam and compared with the Sir Adam, Art’otel, Zoku and The Hoxton which are all 4 star hotels this does not compare well.
On booking our reservation direct with them there was no confirmation of our booking and we had to contact them 24 hours later to get one. On our booking we explained certain dietary requirements which we were assured was no problem and to mention it to the waiter when ordering food. This we did only to be told by the waiter “vegan!! Is that something to do with no meat or milk?” How do people with allergies cope I wonder. We booked the picnic offer. This turned out to be a bag with two small drink cans, two tiny bottles of Prosecco, two small pots of Pringles, two bag of sweets and two chewy bars.
My conclusions are that unless you are a VIP then they are not that interested in you. There’s a lot of tip chasing by the door staff.
The Hard Rock Hotel was fine and did the job but just a bit of honesty wouldn’t go a miss. If you can’t do it then just let us know as we paid over a thousand pounds to stay there and were not made to feel hugely welcome and over our three night stay our room was not cleaned once, but the wonderful hard working cleaner gave us fresh towels when we asked.
I appreciate that Covid has been very hard on businesses and all the hotels look as if they’ve come out of a long storage period.

We stayed for two nights over the bank holiday weekend . The shower tray was blocked and flooded the bathroom. I told reception and they told me it would be fixed. We had to use the bath towels to soak up the water . On returning from our day out we discovered that they had cleaned the bathroom and hadn’t replaced the towels the bed wasn’t even made in the two days that we were there. In the morning the shower tray did the exact same thing
I wouldn’t recommend staying here £500 for two nights and they don’t even make your bed
