The hotel is in a no vehicle zone so one needs to keep in mind that the luggage will have to be dragged up to the main road to and fro from the car.
The hotel has comfortable but small rooms and none of the rooms have any view as such. The rooms were small and the bathrooms were also pretty tiny. The only thing we didn’t like about the room were the beds as the mattresses were very very soft and went under your weight so very uncomfortable to sleep in. The breakfast spread is ok and they didn’t have a live counter for eggs. The hotel provided a water fountain in the lobby for drinking water both still and sparkling.
A special mention regarding the staff at best western who ere excellent. Especially Angela who used to be at the reception in the mornings. The staff at the hotel is great.
This place is an excellent choice in Amsterdam as it’s right where a tourist should be.
A special mention
My room was on the 2nd floor and was furnished to a good standard, although I would have appreciated a mini-fridge. The room was clean and I had no issues with noise and slept well. My booking included breakfast which was also of a good standard complete with cereals, breads tee/coffee/juice and the obligatory cold meat buffet, which is common in many European destinations.
In summary, a well-run hotel with friendly staff, which I would highly recommend to leisure travellers. In particular, a special mention for Evangelina on reception, who was very helpful to me during my visit.

The front desk staff were all very nice and professional. They even ordered a taxi for us upon check out. There is one small elevator that did fit the two of us and our large luggage. The included continental breakfast was very good and plentiful in a lovely room. Great to start off our days touring. I loved the location on a small Straat with a cafe, restaurants, and right adjacent to the Old Church and nearby Dam Square. Due to the narrow size of this street, taxis need to pick up/drop off about 1/2 block away, which was not a problem for us, but could be for people with mobility issues. We walked to all the tourist sights from this central location. Definitely visit De Drie Fleschjes Bar next door for an authentic Dutch Gin Jenever experience.
Bad service, bad breakfast and a lot of noise.
Those at the reception (when there was someone there) were not very nice. The only ones who were nice were Luca and a girl whose name we don't know.
We felt unwelcome throughout our stay.
The breakfast was so bad that we only used it one day. No hot food, very little selection and old baked goods (croissants).
Do not recommend paying for the poor breakfast experience.
Impossible to sleep as it sounded as if the entire hotel was being refurnished by other guests or housekeeping. No noise-reducing windows, so there was a lot of noise from outside as well.
We will never come back here.

"Pedestrian area, so taxi have to be prebooked. We opted to walk to and from the station, being in walking distance walking the Canal side pavement of Damrak is less busy."Read full review
"You’ll need to walk to the hotel, not far though. Parking is 200m away and 50€/day."Read full review
"Try to arrive earlier in the day as the crowds in the street do build up and it is a bit challenging to pull your piece (s) of luggage. "Read full review
