This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Friendly helpful staff made you feel welcome all the time. Extra large room for a couple with loads of storage space. Now for the shower extra large with excellant water pressure and hot water - it also doubled as a steam room wow. A few free drinks in the room both alcoholic and non alcholic each day. Breakfast was excellant selection of hot and cold buffet with a chef that could cook you eggs anyway and also pancakes.. Free bar downstairs to access all day every day of your stay and even in our case when we had checked out at 1.00pm but still had 5 hours until it was time to leave for the airport we were still allowed access to the free bar. Every day from 5.00pm to 6.00pm they prvided a cheese platters for evening nibbles for socialising with other guests. Great location just around the corner from Rembrandt Square and all its restaurants. Costs about 300 euro per nite but was worth every euro we paid . Well worth treating yourself the extra luxury. Would definately stay again. We had a canal view room which is what amsterdam is all about. Easy 20 min walk to the main train station just follow the tram tracks one road to negotiate. Cost about 70 euro for a taxi from the airport. Extra comfy beds and the blackout curtains work really well for a great nites sleep. Also not too many bikes to negotiate in this area as is on a main road - not like on the smaller canal side streets where you need to keep checking for the cyclists. The hotel staff were even able to provide us with heavy duty tape when we realised our case was damaged and needed some minor repair patch up prior to departing for the airport.…
We spent three nights at Banks Mansion. First of all the location is amazing 🤩 We saw so much more staying here and it’s so pretty right on the canal! It was lovely to open the curtains and windows every morning to such a pretty view! THE most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Also, they have bikes to hire at the hotel, which is a must thing to do, just make sure you book them as soon as you can to avoid missing out. The hotel left surprises in both ours and our friends rooms to help celebrate my birthday and their engagement, which was such a nice touch! The hotels full service concept meant we could relax and celebrate without worrying about over spending. They have premium brands and it’s self service, so it felt like we were in our home, especially in the comfortable lounge area they’ve created, it’s so clever! The minibar and treats in your room are also included and the decor is so cool, it’s one of the quirkiest places we’ve stayed. Breakfast was delish! Lots of self serve options, hot and cold, and a chef preparing made to order dishes! Real freshly squeezed orange juice (not watered down like most places) and a huge selection of hot drinks available all through the day in the lounge area to, not just at breakfast! We are already missing the daily cheese board and finding out what different treats they have every day! Oh and make sure you book direct! We were presented with such a lovely gift when we arrived for doing this! …
Staying at Banks Mansions is always a delight. Right in the centre of the city by a canal makes it a great place to see this beautiful city. So welcoming and helpful, you soon feel right at home. All inclusive bar and nibbles makes it even better. Beds comfy and warm. Every detail thought out so well. Can’t wait to go back
This hotel has the market on guest comfort! From the all day snacks and drinks to the evening wine and cheese, they really go all out on hospitality. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast ample with the ability to order pancakes and omelettes to your specifications. It’s convenient to most sights and there are numerous places to eat within a ten minute walk. Bravo to Banks!
Let’s start with the positive, before I explain why I cannot leave this hotel with a better review. The location is amazing and we were able to walk anywhere we wanted within 20 mins. The all-inclusive bar in the lobby also helped us start every day on a toasty note. The folks working at the front desk were very helpful and were able to answer every question quickly. Also, the breakfast buffet was delicious and the staff cooking fresh French toast was so friendly! There were a few problems though: (1) The bed in our room was two very uncomfortable twin beds pushed together, with a mattress topper on each mattress. However, the bed tilted towards the window and the topper would slide off throughout the night. Other couples we met who had booked later then us received normal queen sized beds so I’m unsure how they decide who gets these less desirable rooms with awful bedding. We went an entire week without a good nights sleep because of this “system”. There’s only a power outlet on one side of the bed, so good luck keeping more than one phone charged over night. (2) The ceiling in our bathroom would move and shake with the air conditioning and wind throughout the building. This was noisy and some debris would fall from the ceiling. There was also some rodent feces on our bathroom floor that we complained about - no one ever followed up with us about this. The shower also had lots of moldy mildew around the corners that looks like poor upkeep or cleaning. The person at the front desk wrote this down but seemed rather unbothered, like they were aware of this issue. They said maintenance would return on January 2 and take a look because they were away for the new year. Nope, no one showed up. (3) The front door locks after a very early time each night. You have to buzz in and wait for someone to unlock the door with a button at the front desk. In a city like Amsterdam, most people are spending late nights at a bar or restaurant, so this was an issue when on one occasion we waited for nearly five minutes in the rain to get back inside. We also ordered some food via Uber Eats and the delivery person could not figure this doorbell situation out so he abandoned his delivery and left us hungry. There needs to be a large sign explaining this and guests should be informed when checking in. Even better, install a key reader so that we can enter with our room keys… this seems like a no brainer.…
My first time here and I can't say enough positive things about it. The hotel is in the best part of Amsterdam for tourist attractions, shopping and entertainment. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and decorated. The room we were in was big enough by European standards and the bed and linen of high quality. You can have alcohol, tea, coffee and snacks all day and the bar, sitting area was a great spot for getting to meet other travellers. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff in the breakfast area were extremely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Amsterdam.
Our second visit to Banks Mansion, we love the hotel, generally the staff are helpful and professional, it has a very homely feel to it. The beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable, the rooms are small but perfectly adequate for a couple of nights. The breakfast wasn't as good as we remember and the lady who cooked the breakfast was a tad stroppy. The open bar is a pleasant experience and the herbal tea delicious. We will definitely return on our next visit to The Dam
My husband and I recently stayed at the Banks Mansion for 5 nights, and while overall the experience was pleasant, it definitely fell short of our expectations. This was our third time in Amsterdam, and on this trip we realized that we much prefer the location of Banks, to the Dam Square area - so that was a helpful realization. In addition to the great location, the hotel is attractive, and the 2 qualities which really stood out, were the breakfast buffet with made to order eggs (huge shoutout to Sandra, who was so pleasant and accommodating), and the living room (complimentary drinks and snacks in an extremely comfortable setting!). The front desk staff was fine (a few of the ladies were more approachable than others), but not particularly warm or engaging. The room in which we stayed (306), had a lovely view of the canals, but was not very comfortable. The bed was not one large bed, but 2 separate twin beds pushed together, which kept separating throughout the night, making for an unpleasant night’s rest. The room was also quite dirty upon arrival, with pieces of food stuck to the arm chair, strewn all over the carpet, and hairs all over the bathroom. It was pretty disgusting, and had we not been so tired, we would have brought it to the attention of management. Additionally, the lack of outlets in the room (particularly by the bed) was extremely challenging. Fortunately, we travel with extra long cables, but it was less than ideal having charging cables running along the length of the room, just to keep our phones charged by the bed. First world problems for sure, but the reality of today’s hyperconnected world. The complimentary mini bar was a great perk, and well stocked with water, seltzer, mixers, beer, cocktails, and a chocolate bar. Our biggest gripe with the hotel, was getting locked out one evening, and no one seemed to care. We had gone to an early dinner, and returned to the hotel at around 8pm, only to find the doors locked, and the front desk unattended. We knocked on the front doors, rang the doorbell numerous times, and even called the hotel repeatedly, all without any success. After standing outside for about 15 minutes (in the cold and rain), I went to the side of the hotel, and tapped on the window to get the attention of another guest. Thankfully she ran to the front, and opened the doors for the 6 guests that were now standing outside. A few minutes later, we spotted a hotel employee, and we brought to her attention what had just transpired. Completely uninterested and unbothered, she replied “we lock the doors at night” and walked away. It was 8:00 pm - not 11pm/1am/3am! I recognize that many hotels have the practice of locking the doors at night, but there’s always someone at the front desk to let them in, or a card swiper giving guests entry with their keys. To leave guests stranded outside (especially in poor weather conditions) for 15+ minutes is not acceptable. In the elevator, we spoke with 2 of the other guests that had been stuck outside with us, and they voiced their anger and frustration, because the same thing had also happened to them a few nights prior. I truly hope that management reads this review, and speaks with front desk staff, to prevent this from happening in the future. Issues aside, the location of the Banks Mansion is excellent, and the amenities are wonderful. Hopefully the problems we ran into will be remedied, because we’d like to stay here again in the future.…
What a terrific hotel. Rooms lovely and spacious. Staff was top notch and breakfast was fantastic. We really enjoyed relaxing in the lobby with a drink and a snack. The location is perfect for visiting all of Amsterdam. Pay up for the canal view. It’s worth it. Thank you for a great stay.
When my girlfriend changed our trip to Amsterdam I was excited to share with her the Banks Mansion, my favorite place to stay. The great staff takes care of your every need even before arrival. I had to book late at the holidays yet I still was able to get a canal view room which I recommend. The room is beautifully decorated. They have a lovely lounge with a complimentary self-serve bar where its easy to relax or meet others. Don't miss the cheese snacks happy hour. Breakfast has cook to order eggs/omelets/pancakes & large buffet. Everything is complimentary once you arrive including the minibar. The central location is perfect for exploring Amsterdam. I can't recommend Banks higher!
