Nestled near Amsterdam Centraal Station, the ibis Amsterdam Centre garners applause for its prime location that makes exploring the city a breeze. Guests have called out the hotel's service, noting both its cordial staff and occasional lapses in promptness. While the hotel's atmosphere is often described as welcoming, some reviewers warn that the rooms can feel cramped and basic, with certain amenities falling short of expectations. Despite effective noise insulation, the value proposition is challenged by travelers who find the cost does not align with the experience provided, particularly when additional charges arise.

We had a generally great time at this hotel. We traveled into Amsterdam by train and really enjoyed how easy it was to find the hotel. The hotel is near all the transportation, including the train, metro, light rail, and canal tours. I was initially afraid that the location was too far from all the activities, but we found that it was very easy to walk from our hotel to any part of Amsterdam. The room was clean, tidy, but a bit small. The lobby and hotel bar were nice too.
However, the biggest issue was the power outage on our last day. The power went out before we could get ready to leave and it was very frustrating. The power outage affected the elevators and we had to walk down 7 floors with our luggage. Additionally, the power affected the phones and the hot water for showering. Very frustrating and ruined a very nice stay.

Dear Jose W. Hernandez87, We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the ibis Amsterdam Centre. It is always a pleasure to receive feedback. Our hotel is indeed very centrally located and I am happy to learn you enjoyed this. Good to see the cleanliness was impeccable. The size of the room can be considered as small which is often the case in Amsterdam where space is limited and pricey. We do however offer very competitive rates for our services. As for the the loss of electricity, indeed we suffered from a maior power cut. My sincerest apologies for this, unfortunately situations like these are out of our control. All of our team that day did their uttermost best to keep the consequences to a minimum, but I understand completely the big inconvenience for you as our guest. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Sincerely, Geoffrey Bastiaans Duty/Guest Relations Manager Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Centre

Just beside the central station so very easy to commute to other parts of city by metro, bus, tram and train. You can roam around the city center on foot from here. Apart from the location all are very basic here despite the high price. The hotel is actually located in the platform of Amsterdam central station however there are no noise inside the rooms. Rooms are basic and lacks toiletries in the bathrooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. They are currently carrying on some renovations and using some elevators to carry goods so you may find some of the elevators messy at this point of time.

Dear Quazis, Thank you for choosing ibis Amsterdam centre, and ro taking the time to tell us about your experience. I'm sorry to learn you were disappointed in your stay with us. My sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you encountered. Our location is indeed very centrally located which is the centre of Amsterdam. We are indeed undergoing a renovation in order to provide our guests the best for the future. I can understand your disappointment in the size of the room if you were expecting a bigger room. Prices in Amsterdam can be considered as expensive which is often the case in Amsterdam. Ibis is a chain product and our prices are very competitive for the part of Amsterdam. My sincere apologies for any discomfort caused to you. Kind regards, Joost van Bockel manager on duty

1) Situated adjacent to Amsterdam Centraal Station, hence ideal when traveling by train. You have Tram station just next and Boat Cruise stalls located on nearby canal.
2) Excellent location. Walking distance to City Centre and can travel anywhere by Tram.
3) Our Small Double Room was cramped, no space in room except the double bed. Bathroom was tiny and really cramped.
Only bath towels were provided, no hand towels.
4) No chair in the room, only a stool was provided, very inconvenient. No ‘glass’ glasses were provided for drinking water, only the flimsy plastic ones. Come on, Ibis can surely afford to provide proper glasses in the room considering the rent they are charging.
5) The breakfast (at cost) was very expensive, so we went out and had our breakfast nearby at half the cost.
6) They have coffee machine and snacks shop on the ground floor, where we can buy these. They also have a cafeteria on ground floor serving all the snacks, tea, coffee, drinks.
7) Hope their larger rooms are better than this.

Dear 22SanjeevM, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the ibis Amsterdam Centre. You rated us a three star out of five only. This is not the quality level we strive for. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Our location is indeed very centrally located in the heart of Amsterdam and close to all kind of interesting things. The rooms in our hotel are indeed not very big but can be be considered as cosy. If you are more interested in a larger room you could book our premium rooms which offer a little bit more space. You could also look for one of our other brands within Accor. Two bath towels as well as two hand towels should be available in the room. Did you report your findings to our staff so they could fix this for you? We indeed provide plastic cups instead of glass cups because a lot of our guest prefer to take the cups outside. My apologies for any discomfort this caused to you. At Ibis, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Sincerely, Geoffrey Bastiaans Manager Internal Control & Customer Care Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Centre

Located beside the Central Amsterdam, it was easy access to transportation. The staff was extremely helpful and always ready to resolve any difficulties (including tour related) that i had, as a first time solo traveller. I felt truly safe and at home although alone. My gratitude to staffer Danny, Slyvia and others who made my stay a memorable one. Thanks Ibis.

I visited this hotel in early February 2020 with two of my friends for 1 night. Thank god it was only one night. So when selecting a hotel we were looking for a central location so we can walk to places so in that sense this is the only thing going for this hotel. If your staying for one this hotel is manageable but wouldn't advice any longer. So the extra bed might as well been a plank to sleep on. I had sent a email to request a iron which we picked up on arrival at the reception. We wanted to Iron clothes as we tried to use the iron and baby iron board the water leaked on the board and the bed. I called the reception who sent someone from house keeping to change the sheets, the lady came in like a hurricane changed the sheet and disappeared like a storm. We had requested another iron she said call reception i dont know. So I called reception to ask for another iron, a kettle which wasnt in the room and some pillows. They sent another staff who bought the stuff to the room however didnt provide cups for making tea, surely if ive asked for a kettle you should bring cups with them its common sense when there is no kettle in the room. At this point we were quite annoyed at the lack of understanding and service. So I called reception again to mention that no cups were bought to the room. Instead of understanding the lady at the reception says you didnt ask for any cups i said surely if there was no kettle in the room were would the cups come from. I was told you need to come and get the cups yourself we will not bring them to you my colleague already came to you. I was furious at this point. Finally the room was so small for 3 people. I would never stay at this place again rubbish service

Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you encountered during your stay. My sincerest apologies for the service and communication regarding your extra requests, this is off course not the kind of service we strove to deliver to our guests., and is surely not our usual level of service. I will make sure to pass on your feedback to the front of the house manager, and discuss it with the team to prevent future occurrence. Once again my sincerest apologies. Kind regards,

Unfortunately, no one asked me when I checked out about my visit at your hotel -- one of many issues I faced during my stay. So I emailed my complaints to the team. They apologized but offered no compensation for the challenges I faced during my stay.

As an Accor member, I have come to know and expect a certain standard of service at Accor hotels. However, I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel for a number of reasons:

1. I was awoken on my first morning at 9am with the cleaning staff banging on my door. This is way too early for a cleaner to be checking if they can clean my room. I never ended up getting my room cleaned because I left the 'do not disturb' sign on my door as I didn't want to be awoken again so early.

2. I was awoken every other morning, however, with banging from the repairs going on in the hotel. I never had a good sleep because of the constant banging, dropping of tools, workmen in the hallway talking, etc. If a hotel is going to be making repairs and it's going to make so much noise, they should notify guests in advance. I would have chosen another hotel. Surely the ability to have a quiet night sleep is the most basic thing a hotel can provide - this hotel failed on this account.

3. Because of the repairs, the general atmosphere in the hotel was one of disarray. There was sawdust in the elevator that got onto my clothes, there were tools and nails lying in the floor. This compromised the safety of guests. The hotel area being renovated should not have been open for use.

4. I spoke to someone at the front desk on my last night there and asked for a wake up call for my room the following morning. No one ever called.

5. I was surprised to learn that guests have to pay for coffee in the hotel restaurant. There is none in the rooms. Surely this is also a basic that all hotels provide.

Overall, it was a horrible stay and will certainly not be staying with you again.

This hotel is comfortable, clean and convenient. The staff is very nice. We did not purchase the breakfast option, and chose to grab a morning coffee and croissant at the station. We stayed for 6 nights in a room facing the Rhine river and train tracks. The windows are soundproof, and we did not hear any noise from the trains. It was fun watching the boats and barges on the river. It a convenient location for either riding a tram, ferry boat or walking to restaurants and museums.

By US standards, the room was very small, but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well designed and the AC worked. There is no coffee or hot pot in the room. Coffee may be purchased in the lobby. Bring or buy a bar of soap to use, the one they give in bathroom is tiny. Shampoo and shower soap is in a squeeze bottle attached to the shower wall. We have stayed in Ibis hotels before, and we expected all of this. The hotel is good value, especially since we spent little time in the room.

The area in front of the hotel appears unsightly because of thousands of parked bikes, garbage on the ground, and smokers outside. Don’t be concerned, once you enter the hotel, you are presented with a clean and efficient lobby and friendly check-In. I would definitely stay here again on any trip to Amsterdam, pleasure or business.

When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly staff member at the reception desk. First impressions were that the hotel was quite modern and clean. The hotel is currently undergoing some maintenance/construction work so the lift up was like a construction lift with wooden sides as opposed to the usual shiny hotel lift you would expect but it worked fine and wasn't dusty at all. There was plastic on the carpet then in the corridor to protect it from getting dirty during the works. But once we got to our room it was perfect. The beds were lovely and comfy, everything very clean. The shower was huge with great power and lots of hot water. Even though the room was literally on top of the train tracks of Amsterdam Central station you couldn't hear a sound from the trains outside unless you opened the windows. There was like a double window which helped prevent the sound getting in. Great air con too so no need to open windows really.
Location was amazing. As I said right beside Central station so a handy 10-20min walk from most of the main attractions but if you didn't want to walk there are dozens of bus and tram routes right on the doorstep. Couldn't recommend it enough!

The best part of this hotel is its location: easily accessible to all forms of public transport, right by the main train station, and walking distance to the Dam Square and other central attractions. The paid breakfast is quite extensive and good as well. Rooms and corridors are clean in general, though an odd cobweb can be seen. Rooms are too small - that's the main negative point - and the hotel is expensive compared to what it offers.

Firstly, the rooms are extremely clean and well presented and have everything you need for your stay. For amsterdam it is a decent price. However do not stay at this hotel if you are a light sleeper, we had to move rooms due to the trains underneath being far too loud, and i class myself as a heavy sleeper. Once moving rooms it was ok, but noise still was a bit of the problem. It is directly in the middle of central amsterdam so all amenities are close by with great transport links to vondel park and musuem quater.
