Room was tiny - bathroom door bangs the bed. WiFi didn't work. Soap dispensers empty. Not clean, a few bugs. Fittings damaged. Other rooms' plumbing sounds are very loud in my room. Very loud noise transmission from staircase and corridors. Room window looks out onto a dark wall of the adjacent building accross an alley (although that was obscured by...

Second stay here and it's a good place. Stayed at the back of the hotel the first time which was a hell of a lot better than the street facing room we got this time round as early in the morning you can hear all the trams and street sweepers. Still a good place to stay though, really good location,...

Perfect Hotel for a long weekend away. Rooms are fairly spacious, Nice and cleaned daily. Wicked walk in shower. Perfectly located with everything all within a few minutes walk. Good Breakfast and Suitcase store in case you have a later flight. We will definitely be coming back

The hotel looked so good in the pictures, was described perfect, but this is all a lie. It says that the hotel has a wifi, at the first day we had a wifi, however at the rest 4 days the wifi signal was so low that it didn't reach our room on the 5th floor. The staff doesn't know how...

Hotel Cordial is very well located, close to Dam Square and the red light district. If all rooms are like mine, are basic, small but clean. Breakfast is fairly basic too, but if you want something more elaborate, there are plenty of places around. Our room was at the front of the Hotel, and at night felt a bit noisy...

This place looks good on the pictures but the communal areas are very dated and a little dirty. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable, the glass door on the bathroom gave no privacy and you can not only hear everything in your own bathroom but everything in the corridors as well. There is no milk with the tea/coffee making facilities nor...

having booked my stay last week for only two days, i decided to stay very central, very close to dam square. so the cordial was my choice. it was already pricey for its value, and pictures on all the websites will deceive you. i have pictures to substantiate my stay. my bedspread was already dirty and as if someone was...

WARNING: I stayed at this hotel with my sisters celebrating my Hen Doo in July 2015 - we booked this hotel after reading the reviews and location appeared to be great. This experience has turned out to be the WORST and I can honestly say I will never return back to Amsterdam. The Hotel have let me and my sisters...

The hotel is ideally located. The rooms look modern. More effort in bathroom cleaning is needed. The hotel provides only one size of large towels, no tissues in the bathroom and no laundry bag. Internet connection is quite bad, the signal was weak on the third floor and kept cutting. Pricy for the basic services.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
