We love our stay at the Ambassasde, The people and rooms are amazing and i would easily rate this hotel 5*, The only thing that I think could increase there rating is if they had tea and coffee facilities in your room. I think this would give the hotel just that little extra :-)

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location overlooking the canal. The staff here are excellent and I was so impressed with the care and attention they took to ensure I booked the right room for my 81 year old mother who has mobility issues. I received several emails explaining the room differences and they even followed up with...

I had been doing a lot of research, trying to find somewhere that was within walking distance of Anne Frank's house and also a bit sophisticated for a birthday celebration. Well I certainly chose the perfect spot. All compliments to the staff and the kitchen. As soon as it was clear we were celebrating something special, a bottle of bubbly...

Exciting rooms. Helpful staff. Beautiful location on the canal (about 10 minutes walk from the main street off the central station). Very good restaurant in the hotel but sadly so popular that even as a guest of the hotel you must book in advance or there will not be a table for you (but the hotel provides a good list...

Our room at the Ambassade Hotel was beautiful and overlooked a canal. The hotel staff, though very unhelpful, couldn't spoil our stay. It is a must for lovers of COBRA art, but don't expect great service.

We loved our stay at the Ambassade Hotel - splurging on the two story canal view apartments made us feel like lucky locals and was worth every penny. One of the highlights of our weekend was simply lounging in the front room watching the boats drift past on the canal. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The library lounge...

This is my 4th or 5th stay at Ambassade. I keep returning because the service is outstanding and the location is right in the heart of the most beautiful part of Amsterdam. Also, I am an author, and my book, along with 4,000 other books written by guests of the hotel, is in their newly renovated library. This visit, we...

I stayed for 2 nights with 2 friends and we were given a gorgeous room with plenty of space and 4 giant windows facing the canal. Giant tub and nice shower, walk in closet and plenty of space in the room itself. The beds were very comfortable and there was a separate sitting area that was also comfortable. Very large...

My family and I just spent three memorable days at the Ambassade Hotel. We were equally impressed by the elegant and comfortable room, picturesque views of the canal, delicious bistro fare and gorgeous art-lined walls. (They have one of the finest collections of post-war art by artists from Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam - the hotel is worth a visit for...

we had two rooms in this very beautiful, gracious and interesting hotel. One room facing the canal and one in the back. Both were elegantly decorated and well maintained.Although it is not 5 stars and there are "finer" places, we loved every minute here and was as pleased as any top top rated hotels. The most special element of the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
