We stayed a couple of nights in the Easter week. Had a triple room down the stairs from the main street. Lots of space, very comfortable, complimentary water and fruit and wifi. went to the adjacent hotel first floor for buffet breakfast. Not great if you're expecting a lot of hot food, but great selection of cereals and bread. And...

Thank you very much for your kind words, Mandy, we are very happy reading you enjoyed Amsterdam and your room at the Ambassade Hotel. We are very sorry to read the breakfast procedure was maybe not explained very well: besides the buffet, but included in the price, we serve a large variety of hot items such as egg dishes and...

The Ambassade Hotel is an Amsterdam gem! Perfectly located, this well-appointed "home away from home" creates an ambiance of warmth and comfort. The staff is exceptional - professional, friendly, helpful - and willing to go above and beyond. We have been to the city many times and stayed in a variety of hotels - the Ambassade has proved to be...

It was an exceed expectation staying at Ambassade Hotel. A very beautiful room, warm greeting, great view across the canal from our room window, and very strategic location. The room worth every euro we spent. Thank you Ambassade Hotel

Our hotel was originally booked at one on the outskirts of Amsterdam, but we got bumped at the last minute as the Dutch government decided to book the entire hotel. A week out, we started our search for a replacement, and we're glad we got bumped, as we discovered Ambassade. Nestled in the Western Canal District, we were four adults...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ambassade in February 2016. Not only is the location very central - right on the Herengracht canal - but the hotel itself is lovely and well-appointed. The hotel is actually two old houses joined together, and has a history of being where famous authors stay when they come to Amsterdam. So, the hotel's...

Dear Madam, Thank you very much for your nice Tripadvisor contribution about the Ambassade Hotel. WE noticed it is already more then a year ago you stayed, so hope to have the pleasure of seeing you back soon. Just for your information: all rooms at the Ambassade Hotel are different, shall we assign a more bright room with less ornaments...

We loved the location of the Anbassade Hotel. It's within easy walking distance to all the attractions. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The rooms are a decent size and beds very comfortable. Wise to bear in mind that if you are on the first floor as we were (Room 51) it's quite noisy of a night with people...

We chose the Ambassade based on photographs on the website. The reality was equal to our expectations. We have a very good friend that often visits family in Amsterdam when traveling through Europe. We hoped he might be in Amsterdam at the same time as we would be there. Unfortunately our dates did not coincide with his travels but he...

Dear Turkilic, Sorry to read you did not enjoy all the services and many facilities of the Ambassade Hotel, such as our wonderful Library-bar, the decoration with original paintings of the famous Cobra-movement, the widely acclaimed Brasserie and our Float- and Massage Centre Koan Float. My husband I recently stayed two nights at the Ambassade Hotel in Amsterdam. It was a lovely place to stay in an ideal location. The Hotel is made up of 7 buidlings along a canal so that layout of the rooms and foors is not traditional...more like a maze, which made the hotel, in my mind anyway, a little quirky....

Thank you very much for these nice words, SWL61, we are happy to read you had such a good time in Amsterdam and at the Ambassade Hotel. The hotel started in 1953 with only one house and then gradually expended over the years to it's current size of 10 formerly separated canal side buildings. This might explain the lay-out (each...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
