We have just arrived home from this lovely hotel.

We arrived about an hour early and got into our rooms . Our room was a double room and the girls had an upgraded twin room ( it was very small) . The rooms had a fridge which was so useful and the bathroom was a wet room set up. Our room didn’t have slippers so we used the girls slippers they had in their room. The hotel is quirky with a very narrow staircase and a small lift. We didn’t get out to the courtyard as it was cold and wet when we visited.
The bed was comfortable and the secondary glazing blocked out the street noise. We did bring silicone ear buds which got rid of the noise completely.
Towels were renewed every day and room cleaned to a very high standard.
Breakfast room was small so we were asked for a time slot.
The breakfast was plentiful and there was a huge selection of continental and hot food in heated trays-replenished constantly.
My only sadness was -there was no specific gluten free area - I couldn’t eat the cereals or the croissants, pain au chocolat , muffins. However, I did receive a gluten free cake today!
Every morning they remembered about gluten free bread but it was frozen and was microwaved. One lady told me to put it in the toaster ( which I did). This would be cross contamination if I were Coeliac.
Apart from that, we would definitely return as so handy for the museums and about a 20 minute walk into Dam square.

We had an amazing stay at Huygens Place. The hotel is in a great calm and beautiful area, not far from the city center and very close to Museumplein and Vondel Park. The staff was very nice and friendly. Delicious breakfast with many options, available from 7 to 11 am, so you don’t have to wake in a hurry to avoid losing breakfast. The rooms at the garden are great for avoiding stairs and to have a smoke outside. The room was big enough, with a comfy bed, air conditioner and also a heater. The only annoying thing is the bathroom light switcher is out of the bathroom. Also sometimes a strong smell of cooking food came through bathroom ventilation, so we had to keep the exhaust fan always on to avoid that. The shower is great, but the glass protection should be wider as to avoid wetting all the toilet floor. As a tip to the hotel, I would recommend to install a lot more hooks, hangers and shelves around the room, the more the better. I intend to stay there again when going back to Amsterdam.

Location is good, close to a tram line into the centre and not far from Leidseplein which has other tram lines and many restaurants and bars. We did walk right past the hotel when we arrived as there is scaffolding up and work is being done. It might be nice if the hotel provided a bit more signage at the entrance at this time. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff were all friendly.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights and 1 room for 1 night only. The rooms were not a bad size by Amsterdam standards and the bathrooms were very modern. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms were kept very clean. The only slight problem is that the lift is very small and the rooms are a few steps up or down from the lift, so be prepared to carry your bags. One of our rooms was on the 4th floor overlooking the garden courtyard, and the other room was off the garden. There is a mini-bar, but you only get 2 complimentary bottles of water for the entire stay as it is not replenished daily.

Breakfast was of a good continental standard with a wide variety of cheeses, eggs, meats, salmon, breads etc. The breakfast room is small, so you may have to wait for a table at peak times.

The hotel was fairly good value for money as far as Amsterdam hotels go, although the tourist tax in Amsterdam is really high (not the hotel's fault). I would definitely choose to stay here again.

An excellent location for visiting all the popular sights of central Amsterdam - we found it well connected to public transport yet quiet at night, and the area was pleasant and felt safe for walking around. Rooms were very comfortable and breakfast offered a good variety of hot and cold dishes, and drinks. Staff on front desk welcomed us warmly and were helpful with a range of questions. Highly recommended.

I was mostly happy with the friendly and helpful staff. When we arrived in a cold and rainy late morning after a long flight, they offered a restful spot, a snack and coffee in the lobby. It was very appreciated.

As many reviews mentioned, the location is convenient for museum visits; you can walk to most places or take the tram. The room we stayed is very small, facing the courtyard, so we had no noise issue. Things were clean. At the time of our travel, all hotels in Amsterdam were very pricey. This hotel was expensive, but relatively affordable when compared with others in town.

One small issue is that the front door is by the sidewalk of a busy street. Cars can't really stop there for pickup and drop off. The closest street corner for that purpose is about 50 meters away; not far, but you wouldn't know if you use this hotel for the first time.

Great hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful! The location is right near Vondel Park, with about 20/30 minute walk to the centre/Jordaan area. The room was spotless and comfortable, with everything like hairdryer, coffee machine, slippers, ironing board etc included!

We booked a triple room which had a large double bed and a single bed located on the second floor. Before arriving, we received a couple of emails from the hotel, including tourist information and an invitation to check in online which was a nice touch. On arrival, we were greeted by the reception team with a smile, mint water, and a pastry (left over from breakfast). Our room wasn’t ready, so we were invited to leave our bags there and were suggested a couple of local coffee shops for lunch.

Breakfast is good, with both hot (eggs, bacon, etc) and cold options (bread and pastries), fruit, yogurt, and a coffee machine. There's a ground-level terrace, and a small selection of drinks and snacks are available for purchase at reception.

The hotel is located in the Museum District, a few minutes' walk from the Van Gogh, Rijks, and Moco Museums. It's also very close to Vondelpark, a beautiful green space worth visiting. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the city center, there's public transport options available.

There are very few things I can suggest for improvements. It would be nice to be able to use the coffee machine or take a piece of fruit from the fruit bowl mid-afternoon. Also, the orange juice was not freshly squeezed and tasted more like peach juice than orange.

Overall, I think the Huygens is a good option as the staff is friendly, the area is really nice and the airport bus is an 8 minute walk from the hotel.

Small but clean, quiet rooms, full breakfast included every morning, convenient walking distance to most popular sites ( VanGogh, Anne Frank, boat tours, etc.). Staff was friendly and helpful, most notably Toby, who was very helpful giving advice on negotiating the various tourist sites. Toby truly has a love for his hotel, the City of Amsterdam, and in helping visitors with travel advice.
I would stay here again.

The staff was exemplary. However, the hotel itself was a disappointment. Let me explain. The rating for the hotel is 4 stars, far from it. Upon arriving, you enter a very small lobby/reception area. They only have one staff member checking you in. When we arrived, the lobby was full of luggage and guests. When it was our turn to check in, which was easy, I asked to see the room first. The attendant showed me the elevator as our room was on the first floor (the hotel has four floors) They only have one elevator in the hotel, and it is the smallest elevator I have ever seen in a hotel, only big enough to hold 2 guest and one small carry-on, and nothing more. We had a superior double room, which was very small. The bathroom was about the size of a very small walk-in closet. When entering the rooms, one of the first things you will notice is the floors creak when you walk around in them. They claim the rooms are sound proof, however you could loudly hear guests talking in the hallways. The breakfast buffet area again was very small with only 8 tables, for $21 each the selection was very limited compared to other hotels not worth the price. The location was good if you want to go to the museums, however if you want to go to the Grand Palace area (highly recommended) you will need to take a taxi, about 15-20 euros each way. We had laundry done, the type where you suff it in a laundry bag. It came back cleaned yet all stuffed back in the same laundry bag. All the clothes while clean were wrinkled due to over stffing upon return. This really is only a 2 star hotel with an excellent staff. The only reason I am writing this review is to forewarn those expecting a 4 star accomidation, as if I had read a review like this, I would have chosen another hotel.

The hotel is very well maintained, the rooms are nice and big and comfortably furnished. Very clean with a modern bathroom. There is a fridge, coffee machine and tea maker. In our case, the modern bathroom was equipped with a rain shower. There is enough storage space in the entrance area. Air conditioning/heating, a large TV and very comfortable beds with high-quality, good mattresses. The service and staff are friendly and very accommodating, we would happily come back here and I would also happily recommend this hotel. The location is good, there is a parking garage in 3 minutes and you can walk to the city center in 5-10 minutes. There are restaurants around the hotel and the city park is only 3 minutes away, perfect if you like jogging.
