I stayed at Hotel Piet Hein for two night on a city break with my partner. Modern reception but, rooms were very small - although they had everything you needed and you don't spend much time in your room! Good location with restaurants and shops around the corner.

This is my second stay at this hotel and have travelled to Amsterdam several times. The hotel has a tram stop just outside around the corner and is also at the entrance to Vondelpark. The rooms aren't grand on size as are most hotels in Amsterdam and Europe for that matter, so all the US folks need to realize this...

Small but very friendly hotel. The staff could not be more helpful. We had single rooms - tiny but comfortable and clean. The locations is ideal - very near Museumplein and within easy reach of Central station but quiet location b Vondel Park.

The room was really tiny, 3 floors below ground floor level, with mold in the bathroom and no wardrobe. The reception staff is aloof. Location is very good, in a quiet area near Vondelpark and a few minutes away the Van Gogh/ Stedelijk/ Rijkmuseum, but this is the only strong point.

We spent three nights at the Piet Hein. We had requested a twin bed room and had the request confirmed by mail. And we got a twin bed room - a tiny room with a tiny window in the basement. The view was a back yard where staff from a nearby restaurant were smoking and talking. We complained but had...

would stay here again due to location but only for a few days as the room was on the small side. The shower soaked the bathroom floor which wasn.t nice but the hairdryer was good. friendly staff and nice breakfast at 12 euro cost.

Stayed here at our travel agents recommendation. A very smart clean hotel located in the quiet museum district. Two rooms ( a double and a triple ) booked for the family adjacent to one another. No problems there at all. The optional breakfast is excellent value for money- by the time you venture out and find somewhere you would have...

We stayed a couple of nights at Hotel Piet Hein during easter. We really liked the hotel. It was a nice small hotel with a great location just next to the beautiful Vondelpark and close to the city center. The shopping street is located in the next block and all the museums are just a couple of blocks away. The...

Modern decoration in an old building, a perfect location next to a park and near the museums and sensible prices in a city where hotels are on the expensive side. Also the prettiest receptionist I have ever seen!

Lovely hotel in a great location. Nice clean rooms feels very safe as a lone female traveler. Easy to walk to central Amsterdam but also good transport links as well. Never seen so many bikes in one place! Makes the roads a little scary to say the least. Look both ways at least once.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
