After staying at several hotels in Amsterdam I decided that the tulip Inn was great value. Although not fancy it is friendly, clean and superbly located. I have already recommended it to several friends.

I've stayed at quite a few hotels around Europe, and while this is a better 2 star than say a hotel in London, it's also just a place to sleep and shower. American's will likely be disappointed in it. You're paying for the location only. There is no wifi in the rooms, only the lobby, and only a LAN connection...

We stayed at this hotel for one night before going on a cruise. It is well located for accessing most attractions however there is a nightclub to the front of it and an Irish pub on the street at the back therefore can be very noisy at night until late. Also, it is an old building which has been refurbished...

Maybe I was penalized for booking through a hotel aggregator website but there is no maybe this is my worst hotel experience in 30 years of travel and over 1500 nights in hotels. I checked in at 8PM and you notice immediately that you are on the edge of one of the loudest areas in Amsterdam. Getting a room over...

Hotel was good, staff were friendly, clean, location's perfect.. Just a step away from Damm Square, De Bjinkorf, and for Indonesians, there'a an Indonesian restaurant called Sie Joe just close to Tulip inn.

This hotel is in a really good area in Amsterdam. We got to the hotel before our check in time and we were allowed to leave our luggage in their luggage room and we were also able to do this when we checked out. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. Would stay here again...

The hotel is very central, the rooms are nice and not noisy. It's near the central station and red district, near canals. Very good situation near all attraction of Amsterdam. The place is safe. I stayed one night and I was able to have a good visit to Amsterdam walking.

The hotel is an easy walk from Amsterdam Central Station which is an easy train ride from the airport. The area was very safe even though it was close to the red light district and Dam square. The room was surprisingly bigger than we expected and the bathroom had been modernised. The rest of the hotel is outdated and some of...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
