5-star down to every last detail. our suite was stunning, huge, the bed was devine, the pillows equally devine, the Nespresso machine, Bose system, and heated floors were lovely. no need to enter passwords to connect wi fi. wonderful, efficient customer service. in our room we could not hear one peep from anyone/anything. i hated to have to leave.

I stayed at Hotel De L"Europe last April and it was amazing. The Concierge was very helpfull and organized various restaurants, museums and tours. The room was really spacious and clean, with an excellent bathroom. One of the best features for me was the location, I felt it was really central, so I could walk around the whole town easily....

All round amazing hotel, staff and location. We had a room with a balcony on the canal, which added to the experience. Highly recommend this property. Use the hotel bikes for touring around the city and surrounding areas.

Spent 5 nights here in a superior room on the top floor overlooking the rooftops of west Amsterdam. The welcome and room were great, particularly the bathroom. Both were particularly well fitted out. The service seemed to be either excellent where nothing was too much trouble served with a smile or indifferent, grumpy and asking for more coffee 3 times...

The concierges were exceptionally good, mapping walks for us, getting tix, arranging dinner reservations and truly understanding what we wanted. The hotel was super clean and the restaurants were excellent. The breakfast buffet was ample and always replenished.

Easy to access, fantastic location. We have a private rooftop deck with a great view of the canals below. Room is spacious by European standards and the bathroom is positively luxurious. Internet works (unlike last place I stayed ) and the staff are accommodating. I would return.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
