You can ask for one at the front desk. They ask for a deposit which is returned when you bring it back.

You could walk but it would be a very long way. The ferry is by far the best way across, free, reliable and quick, no reason not to use it.

From what I recall, their is a free shuttle bus to Veer Buiksloterweg wharf, from where there is a frequent ferry service across to Amsterdam Central. Check-in at the Botel is open 24 hours a day.
