If you are looking for a cheap motel you found it. Location is the only thing this place had going for it as the beds were uncomfortable and old, the rooms tiny stinking of cigarettes and a toilet and shower down the hall that could really do with a clean. I think the person that checked us in was drunk...

Stay here for 2 nights for my girlfriends 30th birthday. Great location, only 5/10 mins walk from central station and easy acess to all parts of amsterdam. We were able to check in early which was good and our room was very basic but good enough to get our heads down for some rest.

Group of 4 of lads there for the weekend for the Ziggo Dome ABGT200 event. Wanted somewhere central and cheap and Hotel Beursstraat is just that. We had a 4 bedded room with a private bathroom and did the job perfectly. No issues with hot water, no problems with the beds either. The staff were great, helped us out, and...

Rooms are much smaller than expected and very dated. My main issue was the horrendous smell of cat urine in the bathroom and room in general, literally so strong we went and bought cleaning products and air freshener as couldn't cope! However this hotel is in an amazing location and that made up for it! Minutes away from central square,...

Stayed here with 3 friends, group of females in our 20s. Basically, you get what you pay for. It was the cheapest place we found which was central (though still very expensive for what it was). The location is fantastic, you can walk to most attractions and there's plenty of bike rental places within walking distance. 10 minute walk from...

Stayed here for a festival, don't let daddy know. Location is great, but sadly that's about it! Staff were as friendly as can be to, but hotel is in desperate need of a make over!! So run down and smells throughout the room was tiny only had 2 of us in there and we couldn't move, had to crawl over...

Definitely don't stay here if you have heavy luggage! We stayed for 1 night and our room was on the top floor (nice view), but it took 73 steep dangerous steps to get there. The rooms are very old, smell of smoke and we got hand towels for showering. Pretty sure I booked a double room/bed, but it only had...

We have just returned from 2 nights here. The hotel is fine for a few nights. It's a 1 star and you defiantly get what you pay for nothing more. I wanted to make sure my husband and I had a double bed not 2 singles so I emailed in advance and requested this and the got back quickly confirming...

Stayed here for 2 nights in March. Upon arrival the hotel was fairly hard to find but when we got there the man on reception was very nice. Our room was small and very basic. Nothing fancy. Thin mattress and standard sheets. We had a private bathroom that was also very basic. Only annoying thing was 1 socket in the...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

    Neighbourhood Profile
    Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
