My wife and I stayed at the Rho for four nights in March 2013. We arrived at 8.30am after a long flight from Australia and were delighted to be given our room straight away. The front desk staff were helpful and our room was clean, quiet and had a comfy bed. The buffet breakfast was great and the location of...

Whoever said this hotel is clinging to its 3rd star is absolutely right. The lobby reminds me of something I'd find in a forgotten 3rd world country: hints of a previous glamour, but way past it's prime. Furniture is severely outdated and in dome instances covered w slip covers to hide a multitude of sins. Amenities come from vending machines....

We have stayed last year and decided to return as the location was great and it did the job. This year we arrived at 8pm ( hotel was informed of our arrival time) to be told rudely that our booking was cancelled. The man on reception was rude and told us that our room was gone and suggested we find...

The best point of this hotel is its location on Dam Square and the architecture of its lobby. For the rest, you may be attracted by all what is included in the price... but be aware that quality is below average: - basic room furniture and bathroom - poor wall and floor structure, that allows you to hear all what...

We've stayed at the RHO 2 years in a row and will be staying again this year! We love it. The front desk staff are friendly and knowledgable. It is right on the square, within walking distance to many wonderful sights! Including a short walk to the train station. Perfect!! The breakfast buffet is very good, we enjoyed it!! Can't...

Good point to visit all the impottant point in Amsterdam (museum, Heiniken expirience, Red district area...) Don"t forgget a lot of money or credit card for shopping......

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this hotel with it being a 3* but i was very pleasantly suprised at how nice it was. The location is perfect, close to many good and resonably priced restaurants which is what you need after a long day sightseeing. Our room was very large, exceptionally clean and the bed was one...

Yes, we spent a pleasant stay in Amsterdam and Rho hotel accommodation has been largely the cause. Splendidly located in the center of Amsterdam, well connected, comfortable rooms, a hearty and varied breakfast in a spacious living room, with no waiting or crowds. Rooms relatively simple but complete, with proper bathroom, no frills but without missing anything and, above all,...

Stayed here three nights in March. Fantastic location just off Dam Square and you can walk to virtually all of the major tourist attractions from the hotel. Hotel spotlessly clean and reception staff very friendly. Breakfast included with good choice. We had room on third floor at the back of the hotel. One of the reception staff recommended this as...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
