The hotel has an excellent location and very friendly staff. It did not have a minibar and even no water to drink in the room. The view of Amsterdam Centraal was excellent, day and night. No international channels on tv. Cleanness was poor. Good heating of the room. Not recommended for families to stay here. The breakfast was very good....

My wife and I have stayed in many Amsterdam hotels over the last 20 years or so. However we have been staying in the Prinshendrik now for 5 years or more. Staff are brillaint, facilities are very good and very reasonably priced. Great location. Well worth a visit.

The reviews sounded good. But this a place to stay only if you are needing basic (and tired) accommodation. I look for a few things as judgement for accommodation. Bed - old and lumpy with blanket and sheet Pillow - lumps of 'stuff' we're not enjoyed Bathroom - thin towels Heating - a plug in radiator There are better (both...

Me and my boyfriend on arrival felt very welcome by the staff on reception, they were very helpful, cheery and up for a laugh. We were asked if we can manage stairs and get a room with a good view or if we would like to get a lift to a room with no view, we decided on the room...

Very satisfied with our stay at the Prins Hendrik. We were very well looked after espcially by Mathijs. There was a very good choice for breakfast and the service was also very good. On our arrival we were asked if we liked a room with a view but had one flight of steps or another room with no view but...

We arrived at the reception at around 10pm, with 4 suitcases, no reservation, hungry and desperate. A guy named Carlo and another man named Hollic were there. We got one of the best rooms in the 4th. floor across the Chet Baker room (which we almost got!), and, since it was very late, we got a discount on our first...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
