Personalized service (Mr. Hank, thanks for all tips), warmth, tranquility. If you want something different from traditional hotel´s chains go to Hotel Zandbergen. Satisfaction guaranteed. I still remember the delicious breakfast with the sound of a beautiful classical music, the comfort of the room, the proximity of the park and museums ... Definitively my new address in the next trip...

We had a long weekend in Amsterdam and decided to book the Hotel Zandbergen after reading a few other reviews and doing the usual homework. The first thing to say is that Henk and all his staff were extremely polite and helpful, and always seemed to have good advice for any issue or question we had about the city. It...

Zandbergen is a hidden gem. Small, located in a quiet neighborhood just outside the Vondelpark and 3 blocks away from the Van Gogh Museum. Family managed, what you find here is not commom. Cosy atmosphere, competent people, decent price in a fair and nice room. A good breakfast, tram right off the door, the only con is the stair... oh,...

This time chose to tag a family trip onto the back of some business meetings. This was largely due to Henk's advice a year ago enticing me back with visions of a long weekend with kids. Following 1/2hr trip in on public transport from airport, the hotel accomodated our family of four in the bright and airy penthouse flat. This...

This hotel is outside of the centre of Amsterdam, but it is very easy to get into town with the frequent tram 2. Very friendly people in charge who bend over backwards to help you enjoy your stay. The single room was quite small but fine, though the sink in the shower was a bit of a squeeze. Breakfast was...

Myself and a couple of mates visited amsterdam and stayed in a triple room in the basement at the front of the hotel. The room was very clean and the single beds were comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean and reasonably spacious. Breakfast consisted of a choice of cereals, juices, youghurt, cheeses, meats, fruits, croissants and rolls. On the...

This hotel was in a perfect location for us. A 15 minute walk took you into the nearest station for the 'water bus'. On arrival at the hotel (late arrival) the lady at the reception was extremely helpful. Our room was perfect for us - a little small - but managable with ensuite facilities. Breakfast was great, with a selection...

This is a hotel in a typical Amsterdam house, so expect narrow and quite steep stairs. A quiet residential area with some shops and restaurants, about 10-15 minutes by tram (the stop very close to hotel) from the city center and just 2-3 stops from the major museums. The staff is exceptionally friendly - carried our bags up the stairs...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
