After reading many tripadvisor reviews for this hostel, I was pretty concerned about the condition of this place. Since I'm on a tight budget and was only going for two nights, I've decided to go anyway, since Bob's offered the cheapest price but expecting the worst. My friend and I stayed in the building in the next road, room H,...

Immediately after arriving, I regretted my choice in accommodation. Rude and unhelpful staff when my towel was stolen. Expensive and an extra 10 euro as a deposit on nothing. Even with fun and nice residents, I would not recommend.

Do not stay at this hostel!!!! Myself and my friends ending up staying here for two nights. As soon as we arrived we instantly regretted it. The reception area is dirty, smell and humid. Staff are also rude. As you get to the stairs of death there is an over whelming smell of urine. It is so bad. The stairs...

Can't fault the location however, facilities were below average and there was not a great community feel, staff were low key rude but overall for what you pay the location makes it worth it, be prepared to kind of rough it a little bit but it's not as bad as other reviews make it out to be. You get what...

One word to describe Bob's Youth Hostel would defiantly be 'disappointment'. Our expectations of the establishment were heightened because of FALSE reviews left online. Our high hopes however came crashing around us as soon as we discovered the true nature of the mistake we had made. After travelling for hours on a plane, we were greeted with an aroma that...

Definitely too many beds (16) cramped in quite a small, grubby room, and only given 1 locker for 3 people, but overall not a bad experience. Beds were actually really comfortable. However one shower (with no lock) and one toilet between 16 people is certainly not ideal! Pretty central location but still on a relatively quiet street was a bonus....

Although the hostel is in a good location near the main train station, it's really not very nice. The main problem is it's just so dirty. We stayed in a 16 bed female dorm and didn't feel particularly safe because the windows opened onto the street at ground level. The toilet, sink and showery provided were all absolutely filthy. The...

Clean, safe, cheap youth hostel in a great location. Pretty much your classic hostel, provides everything you need to allow you to explore the city. Cost was around 15 euro per night. Shared dorms allow you to meet awesome people, everyone was very respectful and eager to meet travellers from across the world.

Despite arriving with bad expectations, we all found the hostel extremely gross. The shower was disgusting - the roof was all mossy and rotten looking and the steam from your shower would rise onto it and drip back down onto you while you shower. There were also these weird bugs crawling around our beds, not sure if they're bed bugs...

Heat. Everywhere. I have no comprehension as to to how it can be 10 degrees warmer inside than outside (in the sunshine) at all times. The rooms are 25 degrees or warmer all night. The sheets are clean but occasionally holed. Bathrooms and showers all disgusting - no ventilation, floor wet, not clean. Shower had no less than 3 kinds...

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
