My fiancee and I stayed at hotel internationaal for 2 nights. We have visited Amsterdam on a number of occasions now but have to say that this hotel was by far the best we have stayed in. The staff were friendly the beds were comfy and you could smoke in the room as long as you had a window open!!...

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May. It was a lovely quaint building with a great little bar on the ground floor. Very Cheap for what was a nice clean room that had everything we needed. It is located very close to the central station which was ideal and is close to many of the tourist attractions while...

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Lovely friendly place to stay. Only a 5 minute walk from central station and Dam square. The bar has a lovely atmosphere about it with very friendly staff. We had a shared toilet and shower room which were kept very clean.I would definitely recommend it for anyone travelling to Amsterdam. Our rooms were nice...

Booked the hotel for 4 nights. Overall pleased. Good value-it's not cheap to stay in Amsterdam. Staff very friendly and helpful. 5 mins walk from Central station. Situated in a lively area, however wasn't disturbed at night. Hotel is above a pub. Would say it's more like a private room I've stayed at in a hostel-quite dated, tatty and basic...

Great location for a short stay in the city; stones throw away from the red light distract, eateries and coffeeshops. Bartender and staff where polite on our passings with them. We had one of the double rooms with private bathroom; it was old fashioned but clean. The radiator didn't work so we found it chilly at times. The street is busy...

Stayed here in July with my brother and my cousin, my 3rd time in Amsterdam and was going to sensation. The rooms are a little outdated but definitely worth the price. Beds are very comfortable! We did have a shared bathroom but paid near enough pennies so wasn't expecting a 5* executive suite like some. It is a loud spot,...

Have been coming to this hotel for 15+ years - it was a great find when younger due the central location. However now (40yo) just find it a horrible hotel - not even close to on par with the extremely basic experience you might expect from somewhere like an economy IBIS. I book the attic room (the largest) and it's...

The hotel is great and good value for money, it's basic and ideally situated, the stairs are something else! The bars great, brilliant choice of beers Michael and Casper make you very welcome, you just don't want to leave. This bar is a typical cosy original dutch bar and is one of dams best bars!!!

I was only in Amsterdam for a short break from Ireland, it was my first time. This bar really made my weekend better, the bar staff & manager were so accommodating. The Guinness was superb (trust me I'm Irish), and the fun was good. I'll be back here soon. Thanks guys!!

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
