My mother and I stayed two nights at Meeting Point. The best thing is its location, which is down town in a really busy and nice area. It is also close to the train station which is convenient. Our room, as well as bathrooms, were clean. They have a bar and some games. The staff is nice and the breakfast...

The location of the hostel is perfect. Just few minutes from the central train station and few minutes to the red light district. I stayed a night. The mattress are really thin and sunken in the middle. I am fine with it. But if you are looking for somewhere comfortable, you probably won't appreciate it. You got to pay for...

This hostel is great value for the money, the only way it could be better was if they had a common room or refrigerator for the guests to use and smaller rooms. It's very clean, the bathrooms work well (hostel showers are notoriously bad but these work well!), the prices in the bar are quite cheap and it's open 24...

this place is really cheap which is cool, the shower wasn't really any good and if you're on the 3/4 floor you have to walk up like 6 flights of stairs. the noise from outside can be really loud, beds aren't that bad and the breakfast they serve is ok. I got bed bugs from this place, they were pretty...

Good value for money 17 euros per night approx, sharing room of 18 was better than expected, people were generally fairly quiet in the room. beds were comfortable enough. toilet and shower were adequate. locker storage was good, could fit our entire suitcase in the locker for only 2 euros for the whole stay (+10 deposit), well worth getting. breakfast...

As i had never stayed in a hostel before this one, i was shocked by the room of 18 and worried about my safety, but it was okay!! You can hire a locker for 2 euros, and 10 euros deposit which is great! This hostel is so close to the red light district, and a 15 minute bike ride to...

Spent 4 nights here at this hostel. It's a great location, near to the station and the red light district, walking distance to everywhere. Bar drinks and breakfast really good value compared with everywhere else in Amsterdam, which is expensive. Wasn't too noisy, and the staff were great and helpful, pointing out good places to go. Beds were comfortable. Great...

After taking the longest detour to get to the hostel (which is extremely close to the tram center), my initial impression was "this place has a lot of character". The receptionist is extremely hot and must be a model? The cat looks constantly stoned and there are a few creepy old guys who haven't realised that they are 60 yet....

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
