The location was amazing- literally across the street from Van Gogh Museum (buy tickets in andvance- we didn’t and had to pay 80 euros for a guided tour or we wouldn’t have gotten it) and down the block from the Rijkmuseum. There is also a tram stop about half a block up that we used daily. The hotel is also around the corner from luxury shopping if you are in the market for something fancy. The check in staff was fabulous and friendly. Unfortunately I didn’t write her name down (she had long dark hair). When we arrived to our room- there was a birthday message written for me on the wall, as well as a dessert and balloons! We were in a 2 level suite with two bathrooms. It was great for looking down on the hotel activities as we faced inwards. We could also see outside to tell what degree of rain we would be dealing with that day 😬. There are a set of fairly steep stairs- so perhaps not the best for those with mobility issues). We also had two closets we used to keep our things put away. The pillows were absolutely FABULOUS. So much so that we attempted to buy them- only To find on the website they could not be shipped to the US. Still working out how I might get my hands on a pair. The bedding was also wonderful and I looked forward to hopping in to bed every night. The towels were very plush and we actually didn’t have to call for extra towels because there was plenty stocked to begin with. There was a US plug downstairs as well as multiple European plugs. We were also able to tap into the Bluetooth - so we had surround sound music whenever we were in the room. Housekeeping/turndown service was lovely. The ladies checked to make sure there was nothing else when needed. The bell staff was helpful and remembered us every time we came in and out of the hotel. Front desk was always helpful and friendly and I actually felt like they knew us by the end of the trip. This is not always the case at every hotel where you can feel like just a number. The only disappointment was the spa being under renovation. This was made clear prior to our arrival- we just would have loved to have used it. There was an option to use facilities at a neighboring hotel- we just didn’t have time to get over there. I was very sad to leave the hotel. Everything about our stay was wonderful. I would go back to Amsterdam just to stay at the Conservatorium!! This was the last stop on my birthday trip and the perfect way to end our overseas journey.

A wonderful place to stay in Amsterdam! It's a long walk to the canal parts of the city from here, but you are in the heart of the museum and arts district, making it easy to be first in line for exhibits. We liked being away from the city center as staying here felt like being at a comfy retreat, pleasantly removed from the hustle-bustle tourist throngs. After every day's walking adventure, returning back to the warm welcome of the Conservatorium staff was like coming home to family. We always looked forward to their smiling faces and kind gestures. One of the hosts, a gentleman with a man-bun and beard, was such a gracious and kind individual. He always went out of his way to assist us. I can't recall his name, but he is such a thoughtful person. Everyone working at the hotel exudes a genuine sense of hospitality. The massive atrium that serves as the hotel's entrance, living room, and main dining area is such a great place to relax, soak up light, interact, and savor a drink. It also serves as the site for breakfast. And we loved our morning meals here! The breads, fruits, and juices were sensational. One can also request a variety of made-to-order egg dishes and other items, but I loved the buffet so much, I only bothered to order eggs benedict once. The first room we stayed in was a junior suite fronting the main street. It was remarkably quiet, but the bi-level layout did not work for us. The bed, a sink and toilet were upstairs and had to be accessed by a flight of stairs. The closet, shower, and sitting area were downstairs. The upstairs is enclosed by a glass perimeter that extends to waist height. Passage around the bed is tight and the door to enter the upstairs toilet, when open, makes it difficult to move around the bed. If you have acrophobia, this room arrangement creates an unpleasant sensation. It's also a pain when it's time to dress/undress. After two nights, we'd had enough and requested a one floor suite. For some people, this might feel like an adventure, but not for us. Fortunately, they relocated us to a Rooftop Suite. This is the way to go! You are up on a private access floor, it is incredibly quiet and the room is massive and open, with huge architectural beams enclosing the space, creating a sense of drama and security. The shower abuts a glass wall that allows light to enter directly from outside. We just loved the room! It is such a happy, cozy space, akin to a bird's nest in a church steeple. The Conservatoriun is filled with character and a delightful, warm staff. Quite honestly, I can't imagine there being a better place to stay while in Amsterdam. Exceptional!

The Conservatorium is a true 5-star luxury. The building is magnificent and in the restoration work could not miss the genius of an Italian super architect Piero Lissoni. Already on arrival you understand that all the staff is focused on the well-being of the customer. Get out of the taxi and your luggage is immediately taken over and the reception is alerted to your arrival. Everything is quietly efficient, everyone smiles and is kind. I had already been in 2016 at Easter in this structure and I was ecstatic. Strategically located within walking distance of the most important museums and very close to the luxurious streets, the Conservatorium will not disappoint you. Nevertheless, I think some small criticisms are due. We stayed in a duplex room distributed over 2 floors. On the ground floor there is the bathroom (very comfortable and with correct spaces), a corridor - with a well-stocked mini-bar and a coffee machine - leading to a small sitting area with sofa tv, desk and chair. In this whole area there is no coat rack and/or wardrobe. In Amsterdam it always rains, you walk into the room and where do you put your wet jacket? I don't know, but you can't hang them in the bathroom either because the only 2 coat hangers are occupied by bathrobes. This is a shortcoming that is not solved even by exploiting the very small wardrobe on the upper floor where the bed is located, a wardrobe that has more hangers than the space you could use by putting clothes on it. If you stay in summer it might be enough but for 3 winter days, the space is absolutely inadequate. There is also a sort of "easiest" on which you can put your clothes but certainly not soaked jackets (if only to not drip around the bed). The lack of space for clothes is a serious problem for this type of room. In my previous stay I had taken a duplex suite and the space was correct. The other problem is that the heating is only upstairs. Since the hot air tends to rise, in order to be able to stay on the sofa at a correct temperature you have to set 26 degrees on the thermostat. You basically sleep almost naked on top of the duvet but when you have to go to the bathroom you have to get dressed. A final note concerns the height above the ground of the chandelier located almost above the desk. The positioning is so low that it is inevitable to slam into it with your head. Then there are only positive notes, splendid couple massage at the Akasha center and remarkable spa both in size and operation (sauna and steam room above all). Great breakfast, wide choice and great quality products. But above all I like to report again the courtesy of all the staff. Thank you for pampering us on this short holiday.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Conservatorium three times over the course of 2023. We travel quite a bit and have patronized a variety of hotels around the world. Based on our experiences, we find that the Conservatorium is unmatched when it comes to attention to detail, guest relations, and all around service.
From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with warmth and friendliness from the entire staff. The atrium puts you at ease after a long day of travel and the checking in process is seamless. Jill and Erin, specifically, were outstanding during our most recent trip in December!
As for the rooms, housekeeping, and room service, every single experience has been consistently exceptional. The in-room dining is just as thoughtful as if you were dining in person at one of their restaurant offerings. The hotel staff in general always seem to anticipate your needs and go out of their way to make your time there as enjoyable as possible. There's nothing better than spending a full day exploring the city and returning to find live, classical music in the lounge to help you unwind.
The most difficult part is having to say goodbye! Richard, in particular, went out of his way for us all three times for our early morning departures. His kindness and energy were a welcome distraction as we anticipated our long flight home. Jim, the barista, makes the most comforting matcha lattes that have become our favorite send off treat for the airport. The whole team, including the valet and drivers, down to the minute you leave, make you feel appreciated and genuinely happy that you spent time with them. The Conservatorium is one of the most considerate hotels out there and we cannot wait to see them again!

Just had a fantastic week at the Conservatorium with my wife and daughter. Cannot recommend highly enough. The location is superb, near major museums, shopping, restaurants. The building itself is simultaneously historic and modern with a spectacular lobby atrium. Courtyard makes Uber pickups and drop offs pleasant and dry (enormous covered area). Gym is among the best hotel gyms you’ll find. (No Peloton 🙁)The (upgraded) room was unusual - extremely modern with a loft (steep stairs may not suit everyone) with a large full bath, couch/single bed downstairs and king bed upstairs and a compact (but totally fine) full bath upstairs. Huge window, pleasant view, electronically-controlled highly effective curtains. Linens top notch. Bed extremely comfortable. Very quiet. Breakfast was delicious with a beautiful buffet. Dinner in the Mediterranean hotel restaurant was ok. All staff were completely fantastic. All requests were handled expertly and expeditiously. Concierges (shoutout to Mark, Marcus and Etan) were available, helpful and efficient. Cannot wait to return.

We were visiting Amsterdam as a family of 4 with teenage children in tow for our first post-Covid vacation from the United States during their spring break. I was worried about many factors including whether the Hotel I chose was the correct one as we were spending 6 nights there.
Suffice it to say that the Conservatorium exceeded my expectations in all regards. First and foremost, it is located in what is referred to as the Museumplein which is in a quieter and ritizer part of town than the other Luxury hotels in Central Amsterdam. For those of you who have stayed in New York City, it is a choice of staying in Times Square vs. staying in Central Park West. When you stay at a hotel in Times Square, you can never escape the crowds... Btw, Vondel Park near the Conservatorium reminded me of Central Park.
Secondly, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that all of your needs and met and taken care of; from the front desk staff, to the gentlemen greeting you outside hotel as you walk in, the staff that took care of us while we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast every morning, to the Concierge staff who take care of all of our activities during our stay. When you stay at a hotel for 7 days/6 nights you truly discover whether a good service day from the collective hotel staff was either a fluke or a true passion to serve their customers. Thankfully at the Conservatorium it was the latter.
Finally, this hotel has many categories of connecting rooms where you can put your children into connecting rooms with an inside door connecting them. Few rooms in Europe allow for 4 guests within a single room, so I look for connecting rooms as a must when I travel with my children into a foreign country. The Conservatorium as opposed to the other Luxury hotels has numerous connecting room categories for any price point.
Lastly, I visited every Luxury hotel that was competing for my business during my visit. Trust me in that you will be doing a lot of walking when visiting Amsterdam. Nothing beats the majesty of the entrance and the Hotel foyer of the Conservatorium compared to the other fine hotels. It truly is because the Conservatorium is not in Central Amsterdam where space is a limited resource. There is considerable room to move and walk around the Conservatorium without feeling claustrophobic.
If you are traveling to Amsterdam as a family of four or want to stay at a Hotel in a safer, cleaner, and less crowded part of Amsterdam with a wonderful staff that takes care of all of your needs, then the Conservatorium will fit the bill. Everything that you want to visit in Amsterdam is a maximum 30 minute walk or quick Uber ride away from the Conservatorium.

Excellent hotel; stayed in a duplex suite which offered plenty of room for our family of three with the added benefit of two bathrooms. Perfect location and very attentive staff, even the engineer which came to our room to check on an outlet let us borrow his personal phone charger for the duration of our stay. We owe a special thanks to Eitan, the concierge, who planned marvelous tours for us during our stay. Alina, another member of the concierge team, also deserves a hat tip for all her attention to our room when we arrived and during our stay. A truly great operation.

18 family members I stayed at the Conservatorium Hotel for 6 nights between Christmas and New Years "24-'25. It was the perfect hotel and location for our group. Service, breakfasts, the gym were all perfect. The concierge staff, particularly Etan were very helpful before our stay in arranging restaurant reservations for our large group and advising on activities. I highly recommend this hotel.

Conservatorium Hotel surpassed all expectations. I was hesitant to not stay on the canals for my first visit to Amsterdam, but 2 minutes after entering this gorgeous and peaceful lobby I knew I had made the right choice. The staff/service is higher than 5*, knowledgable, friendly , available and takes that extra step to help. Rooms was bigger than any European Entry level room, great natural light, strong water pressure, very high thread count of towels and bedding, fresh fruit replenished daily. Breakfast buffet and menu fresh and delicious. Taiko restaurant: I dont usually love a hotel restaurant , but this is a do not miss, and very popular with locals, excellent variety of classic Japanese and several signature dishes that were fantastic , definitely need a reservation. Location, 15 min walk to the canals and all the tourist popular shops, chain hotels and cafes, but the immediate area is a stones throw to all the museums, designer shopping and an entire local neighborhood with cafes and shops and a huge park with ponds and walking/running paths. Overall, One of the best hotel experiences I have had in Europe and can not wait to stay again.

PROS: The staff is very helpful and accommodating (the exception being many servers with attitude in the restaurant). We arrived a bit early and were able to check in without any fuss. And in the course of our 5 day stay the staff was very quick to respond to a couple of issues. We liked the location outside of the intensely touristy central area; which is a long-ish but pleasant 20 minute walk away. But if you want to be in the heart of the canal hustle and bustle, The Pulitzer might be a better choice. The Conservatorium is very conveniently located for the Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk museums. As the spa was being renovated, the 'pop-up' was sufficient and we both had relaxing body work done. CONS: There are many guest rooms overlooking the atrium, which is quite busy and attractive, however we had occasion to visit two of these rooms (traveling with friends) and they were permeated with the unpleasant scent of cooking meat as the restaurant is situated in the center of the atrium. Luckily our room overlooked the street and had no odor. We found the bed uncomfortable - too firm for us. The closet/dresser design is extremely inconvenient to the point of almost being unusable, so for 5 days we opted to more or less live out of our bags.

The hotel has eight floors. Many rooms have two floors, with stairs to a loft floor.
You should carefully choose your type of room directly from Conservatorium
The hotel is fabulous, and the people are wonderful. The spa and pool good too.
(We've stayed there many times in recent years and will be back twice in 2018.)
