We decided to take a short post Christmas break and avoid the large chain hotels. We lucked across The Townhouse Inn by chance and it turned out to be an incredible find! Christian was the perfect host from the first email confirming the booking to the last handshake goodbye. We arrived late but he had already given us the codes...

A really great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable rooms with everything you need. Breakfast really tasty, fresh and plenty of choice. Christian and colleague Paulo very welcoming, friendly and helpful for tips etc. Walkable from Central Station, good area to stay in. Some lovely restaurants opposite over the canal plus a great little bar just down the road...

We stayed for the last 2 nights of September and echo all the previous good reviews - stunning bedrooms, great breakfasts, good location and Christian is a perfect host - we particularly liked his help and advice in finding places to go/things to do that perhaps you don't always find in the commercial guides. The area is nice and quiet...

This place has everything you need. Perfect location, modern spotlessly clean rooms, lovely breakfast but most of all Christian who runs the place a warm and friendly guy who makes you feel at home the moment you arrive. Nothing is too much trouble even down to helping with your sightseeing!

We stayed at the Townhouse Inn on 20th & 21st September 2013. What a place, there is nothing bad we can say about this place, it truly is faultless. Rooms are modern and spotless. They have all the mod cons (kettle / TV / fridge). The bed was so comfortable we slept very well. As for the host, Christian !!...

The room was modern and clean and the bed was very comfortable. It also had a large flatscreen tv, a fridge and free WiFi. The location of the b&b is fantastic, a short walk from the...

Location is in an excellent position, near to everything, as central station, tram and buses, canal tours, Dam, restaurants. Rooms are very confortable, everything is new, cool furnitures...Christian is a very nice and very cooperative person. It will be my first choice in future trip to Amsterdam. Stairs are the very typical dutch ones.

We stayed at the Townhouse-Inn for two nights at the end of June 2013. Fantastic hotel, modern and clean. It overlooks a canal with a few local bars. We stayed at the TownHouse-Inn for three night in mid June 2013. We found it fairly easily after a brief walk from Amsterdam Central station and used the entry codes provided to us to get into the hotel and our room- no need for keys. The hotel is in a gloriously tall Amsterdam townhouse on a canal, and just across...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
