This really was a great little find in the heart of Amsterdam. Easily within walking distance of everything and there were great restaurants nearby for breakfast. Lots of stairs to the rooms but our room was very nicely appointed and suited us well. Would recommend this place for sure.

We had an amazing stay in July 2015. The sunhead is in a perfect location for sightseeing and the owners couldn't be more helpful on recommending places to go / eat ( the Thai restaurant around the corner is amazing ). We had a brilliant stay and hope to go back again.

This was a wonderful place to stay right on the edge of the Jordaan. You are close to The Anne Frank House and many other sights. We were in the top floor room and it was perfect. Cozy and clean and it had a wonderful view out over the canal. Unfortunately, Carlos and Roelf have recently sold to enjoy their retirement in warmer climates. Not sure how the new owners will use the property.

We had a great time with Carlos at Sunhead. All of his recommendations were spot on. We were provided a drawn out map of the best places to eat, sorted by price, and described in detail along with suggestions of what to get there. We were also given suggestions for breakfast with great descriptions (we recommend the one with pancakes to the southeast.)

Unfortunately they no longer offer their apparently legendary in house breakfast which I believe they stopped just before we booked, but they are correct that there are plenty of options nearby and it is nice to get out by the canals for an early bite.

Be warned that there are steep steps. We were in the 3rd floor canal view room, beautiful place and a great view, but a little treacherous to get up to. We didn't have too much trouble after navigating similar situations throughout the rest of Europe, and they made sure we didn't have to carry our own bags, but if you're sensitive to it make sure to get the lower level rooms.

In room offerings of coffee and small snacks were appreciated as was the 5-7pm happy hour so we could grab a few drinks before heading back out.

We enjoyed our stay at Sunhead and the location was great. There were no problems at all and Carlos was very accommodating from the moment we arrived. We had the attic room which was fairly small, but had a high ceiling and a window to open and a stand fan as well. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable for the two of us. The bathroom was small, but everything worked properly and plenty of hot water. Sleep quality was fine with no noise complaints to speak of.

The only aversion to this B&B is the staircase. Very, very steep and winding stairs in a narrow staircase (similar to a spiral staircase) going up to the rooms. You will need some strength to carry your bags up and down.

A very pleasant stay and a resident cat to cheer things up even more. Thank you.

Sunhead of 1617 is located in the heart of the wonderful 17th-century canal district. Built in 1617, it is one of the oldest heritage monument buildings of the Herengracht. The Herengracht is the most beautiful More and prestigious canal of lovely Amsterdam. Less

The stairs are steep but typical of buildings in this area. We thought it added a certain charm but they are not for the faint hearted!
