The room was good despite the fact that it smelled really badly from the bathroom. As soon as the door to the room was open an awful odour came. The WiFi was really good and fast. The beds was a little hard to sleep on but other than that I'm pleased with the room. It was really cheap so it's...

The Twin room was more like a single room with 2 single beds crammed in it. The bathroom had a horrible smell & the toilet was too high & i was very uncomfortable using it as I'm very short. The steepness of the stairs was very hard to get up & I felt unsafe going up & down them.

My room was very nice and clean, with a beautiful view of the street. Bad sides were the bad smell of the wc and the too small stairs. I solved the problem using a profume every times i had to use the toilette.

Me and my friend stayed here for two nights and immediately I wanted to leave. The hotel looks very ran down on the inside. Where there was paint remaining it was peeling off the walls. Staff member who "welcomed" us was very rude. Far too many narrow stairs (most steps were about 3/4 of my size 6 feet so I...

Upon arrival the hotel looks a lot smaller than it does in photos - as do the rooms. Each room has a different layout but the photos shown online do not show all of them, and my friends & mine were not there. This is about room 22 - The staircase is TINY, and is winding also so it's quite...

Probably the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. Was given a Room directly behind reception, walls so thin i could hear the tapping of the keyboard in reception. Website says fridge in the room. No fridge but that will be due to there being no space in the room to put one. Room would be better suited to being...

Room with carpet on the floor (so a significant percentage of hygiene goes away). Very small bathroom but ok. It needs some improvements on the walls to achieve a better image for customers. Get ready to go on foot on the third floor of the hotel. Remember how the stairs in Amsterdam's houses looks like.

Would recommend this hotel on area and close to city centre, nice little bar next door. Trams every 5 mins outside the hotel. Good for a weekend break or short holiday. Staff very friendly and helpful!

Had a good stay in Hotel Plantage. Although the room looks bigger in the picture when booking, the hotel was quite good, room had quite enough space for us, it is very clean, all the staff in the Reception was very welcoming, helpful and always gave us some tips about the city. (Cheers to the Iranian receptionist and the local...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
