I highly recommend this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They expected my arrival and were prepared for the special requirements I had specified when I was booking the room. They carried my bag to the top floor for me. I stayed in one of the attic rooms - it was clean and quiet, and very cosy. The...

Friendly, competent staff. Very basic room, with terrible mattresses but clean. Close to city centre and all attractions. Great diner next door for breakfast, and lots of restaurants in the area to choose from.

Good location, only 10 minute walk to Rembrandt square. Stayed in the attic rooms, basic but value for money. Hotel manager very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone wanting to explore the city.

This hotel was basic but fantastic, the room was clean and we were given a balcony (usually at an extra cost) for free as the hotel was fully booked. The hotel is a 20 minuet walk from the main city or a 5 minuet tram ride (which stops right outside the hotel) Next time we are in Amsterdam we will...

Great location. Close to Dam. Next to the zoo. Room and bathroom were very clean. Good rate. Perfect for a solo traveller and will probably rebook on my next visit (provided I get my smoking room next time) :)

Is a perfect place to drop your bag, take a shower, eat something and go out to walk through the city to know it. Good location, near to Red light district (20 minutes walking maybe) and the Dam Square, in fact, they have a tram station just around the corner (tram Nº9) free candies in the reception The pressure and...

Nothing bad or wrong at all. Considering its budget hotel . Only one thing very strange for any hotel . no one in reception during night shifts. So what should we do in case of late check in !!! Luckily it didn't happen to me . But it could

I welcome in your face travellers and tourists. The hotel Plantage we spent two nights and were very pleased with the choice. The hotel is cozy, the staff is very attentive and accommodating. The hotel is located five minutes walk from the Central street in a beautiful neighborhood, with a developed infrastructure. The hotel justifies the level of 'three stars',...

I went to Amsterdam with a friend and we staid two night. We had a very pleasant stay in hotel Plantage. The Artis zoo is right across the street and it's a residential neighbourhood. There are 2 tram lines (9 and 14) nearby and they both bring you to the city center within ten minutes. We had a spacious room...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
