Large room, large marble bathroom, private garden, and many small touches make this hotel an unusually well priced luxury.

We stayed at the Synopsis Hotel in Amsterdam in September 2007 with 2 more friends. All I can say is what a find! The hotel only has 3 rooms and we only booked it as we were struggling to find vacancies in Amsterdam for the days we were there. So glad we found this one and will definately stop there...

We stayed for 3 nights mid June this year after trawling the internet for hours to find a suitable hotel. We arrived a little early for check-in, though were still welcomed by Elizabeth and given a map of Amsterdam with pointers as to where attractions/ restaurants etc were. Our room was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL- as nice as the pics on her...

We spent a lovely three nights here in mid May. I booked well in advance and chose the more expensive room at the rear of the property with its patio doors leading through into a gorgeous leafy and flower filled private back garden (170 euro a night). I did shop around and although this tariff seems expensive it does compare...

If the Synopsis were a hotel rather than a three apartment B&B, the establishment would no doubt rate 4 or more stars. Elizabeth, the manager/owner, runs a "tight ship"; no expense has been spared to make each apartment state-of-the-art in decor such as an in-the-room refrigerator, fully equiped kitchenette and a personal computer/internet. Our room -- the front -- faced...

My husband and I, with two friends stayed at the Synopsis in June 2006. My first thought, was that it was expensive for a B&B but soon changed my mind. This is no ordinary B&B. The rooms were lovely and quiet and the bathroom was 5 star. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat only 10 minutes walk from...

My wife and I stayed in Synopsis for five days in late November. We found it an excellent small hotel. It only has three rooms and feels very private. The owner, Elizabeth, lives in the appartment upstairs and prepares breakfast in her own kitchen behind the hotel rooms. She will either bring it to your room, or you can eat...

We just returned from a four day stay at Synopsis, Amsterdam. It was lovely. The hotel has three guest rooms, and each is unique and fully-equipped. The hotel is an old canal house with a lovley private garden in the rear. The property is filled with original art (which as a creative person I really appreciated) as well as all...

The Synopsis Hotel was a wonderful surprise. From our arrival greeting by Elizabeth, the owner, to our leave taking, the hotel was just perfect. It is located on a very quiet canal, in a beautiful canal home that has been very tastefully decorated. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the major museums, etc. Elizabeth has a list...

My wife and I had a 3 night stay at the Synopsis in May. I second everything that allenoen973@yahoo.com put in his review. I will add that we had a nice late afternoon in the back yard enjoying wine and cheese (wine was reasonably priced in the mini bar.) You can't do that in your typical hotel. The location of...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
