I always stay in the loft room .. clean and tidy. The bed is comfy. The location is perfect and central to all the major attractions. The owner is a very friendly guy. The stairs are very steep but that is like everywhere else in Amsterdam. The breakfast was nice too. Very good value for money. The overall experience is...

Amsterdam Central Bed and Breakfast that we stayed was in such a great location. It’s not far from Damrak train station and Red district but a bit difficult to find as there was no sign indicated in front of the house. We needed to look from the number at the front and rang the bell so that the owner can...

I've stayed here twice and both times been very happy with it. I stayed in the attic room which is lovely. The bed's comfy and it feels very cosy. The location is very central, right on the edge of the red light district and easy to get anywhere from. It's on a small but busy street, although up in the...

Great location in the RDL. You would hardly know this place was here, there is just a door with no signs but it is a perfect location in the area. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. The room was basic enough but it was a decent size. Breakfast was included. Overall it was good value and a superb location.

So glad that we chose this bed and breakfast for our stay in Amsterdam. Could not have asked for more. Was hesitant about choosing this accommodation as usually I would opt for a hotel, however, it turned out very well. The location of this bed and breakfast is very central. 10 minutes walk from the central station and on the...

The location cannot be better. Easy to find from the train station. When Cees opened the door and I saw the steps up, I was worried. He helped carry our luggage up to the lower room. The room was huge and well done. Over looking the street below. We loved the experience in staying in a 400-500 year old home...

This place is great. Cees greeted me when I arrived, showed me the necessities, and then left me to do as I pleased for the rest of my stay. I was in the lower room, which was clean and had a great view of the street below. I loved the noise and bustle of the Amsterdam night life, but it...

My partner and I stayed here during the peak tourist month of July for 4 nights. This accommodation is perfect. It is right in the heart of Amsterdam and a quick 5 minute walk from the Central Station and it has the quickest wifi. Many reviews said this place was noisy but I wouldn't say it is too bad. Everywhere...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
