I cannot explain the experience you get while staying at the Breitner house. It is one of the most beautiful homes in Amsterdam. The way it is furnished and the history in the art and decorative pieces is awe-inspiring. The champagne breakfast is such a treat and the owners are such sweethearts. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. Such a beautiful stay.
This is the best place to stay in Amsterdam for a completely different experience, made possible by the hosts, who go to great lengths to make sure that we are absolutely happy. This B&B feels like a home because it is one! Our room ( we took the first floor one), was large, beautifully decorated (early 20th century style), and comfortable. Breakfast is an unforgettable experience, the table is decorated beautifully, wonderful breakfast goodies and classical music to round it off. Nothing is too much trouble for Camila, who was always at hand during our meal. Camila also made sure that our pre-stay requests were met and then topped it off with two lovely bottles of wine and some chocolates. Definitely the place to stay in Amsterdam. The only warning is that this place is for people who have no problem going up and down steep stairs. The house has historical value, so it is understandable that the hosts did not change the interior layout.…
We cannot recommend Breitner House highly enough! From the minute we checked in to be greeting warmly by magnificent host, Camilla, to sadly leaving 2 days’ later, we felt truly privileged to have spent quality time in this beautiful romantic and historic home. The building and plush decor and furnishings are from a bygone era. We stayed in the breathtaking Breitner Suite. The champagne breakfasts set you up for the day and are amongst the best we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Thanks so much Camilla! We will be back and would like to try the Israels suite next time 😊
Breitner House is a unique, warm, and luxurious experience. This boutique hotel has only two independent beautifully appointed suites, which is a definite benefit now. The setting is as if you were living in an art gallery with carefully chosen artwork, furniture, and lovely objets d’art. Added to the engaging setting are the complimentary coffees, wines, candies, and fruits making your visit feel like visiting a private, lovely country house. The warmth of the hosting also gives a comforting feel to it all. You can be as private or as social as you wish and any question or need was very nicely handled. And the breakfasts are gourmet level. Camilla provides a wide variety of cold cuts, cheeses, jams, chutneys, fresh fruit and juices, yoghurt, dips, pastries and breads that are very high quality. In addition, the warm entrees vary and each and every one was delicious. I don’t know how she does it. The sparkling wine offered with breakfast just added to an already special experience. The coffee was excellent and the latte/espresso was very much enjoyed by my husband. In fact, after breakfast I was ready to lounge in the spa-like bathroom in our suite. We traveled with our daughter and so had both suites. Frankly, I had a hard time choosing ours. Hers had a well designed bathroom with a shower and the fireplace in her room made our winter visit feel very cosy. They are both large and well lit with sitting areas and she didn’t even use the front room adjacent to her sitting room. Ours had a large living area with a sofa to sink into as well as another beautiful ceramic tile bathroom with shower and separate tub with heated floors. It was such a comfort to come back to the house after long days walking, sightseeing, and Ubering around Amsterdam, sometimes in the rain. Either suite is an excellent choice. We felt privileged to visit Breitner House and although we have stayed in amazing boutique hotels, top Kyoto ryokans, and large hotels, it was a peak quality experience for all of us.…
And old historical building built by and for the famous painters and artists of 19th century. Very unusual design for the Dutch houses-very light and cosy. Run by the owner Camilla, who is very helpful and kind person. Interior is full or art nouveau designed designed features, paintings and other antique items-very interesting! Breakfast are served at the time arranged with Camilla. Transportation is easy-there’s a tram close to the house. Recommend!
We stayed with Camilla for two nights 9 & 10 July 2019 - what a wonderful hostess! We can't thank Camilla enough for having us to stay and making the start of our holiday so special. The rooms are amazing, the breakfasts outstanding. We simply loved our time here and nothing was too much trouble for Camilla. Everything is close by and Breitner House is very central to everything. We would recommend anyone to stay here if you want something special and different.
Many of us travel in order to have unique experiences. So skip the big hotels and book a stay at the Breitner House. It is a place you will not forget. It is the vision and dream of Camilla and she will bring you right into that dream. We are vegan and she was completely accommodating with festive dynamic breakfasts every morning. Since there are only two rooms in the B&B she is able to take care of you very well.
We stayed in the Isaac Israel’s suite which had a magical garden. Beautiful furniture, fresh flowers, fruit, chocolate, wine, Prosecco, amazing bed with the whitest bedding. Amazing time with Camilla, great host and delicious breakfast. Everyday something new to eat and I loved her special hot dishes. Marius, boat owner was knowledgable about the canals and area. We had a private boat trip which was fun and relaxing. Can’t recommend this boat trip enough. I’ve never wanted to return to the same place but this is the place for me.
We just returned from a week at Breitner House for our honeymoon in Amsterdam. Originally, we had planned to stay at one of the fine hotels in the central area, but none of them really excited us and we wanted something very special for this milestone time in our lives. Then, we found Breitner House. We were captivated by the beauty of the suites and the artistic feel that came across in the photographs. Only later did we learn about the history of Breitner House as a gathering place and inspiration for artists, which made it even more perfect for us. Our suite of rooms was magical. The bed was luxurious and provided us with wonderful nights’ sleep. Most of all we truly enjoyed just taking in our beautiful surroundings, which felt very homelike. We applaud Camilla’s exquisite taste! We knew that a breakfast was included as part of our stay, but we couldn’t have imagined what a beautiful spread Camilla would provide for us! The food was lovingly prepared and exceptionally delicious and so elegantly presented that we felt like aristocrats. Camilla was an ideal hostess -- very helpful with orienting us with how to get around the city and told us about wonderful restaurants that added so much to our overall experience. The location was very convenient to several trams and buses, which made getting around very easy for us. We highly recommend a stay at Breitner House!…
Hostess Camilla opens her beautifully decorated home with two large bedroom suites. We stayed in the bottom unit with two large rooms and access to a peaceful, flowering garden offering respite from the busier streets during the burgeoning springtime. We stayed five days and felt in that short while Camilla cared for us like family! Breakfast is served 9a-noon, not to be missed; however, if you need an earlier start to your day, you'll miss out!
