The Hotel V Nesplein is right smack-dab in the heart of the central Dam area of Amsterdam. It's set one block back, on a quiet street. I was amazed at how quiet and peaceful it was, so close to the square. It's within walking distance of the station, or you can hop a tram. We were able to explore much...

The hotel is located at the center of town, next to Dam square,...

My wife & I went to Amsterdam for a week and we were looking for a hotel in the heart of the city. We made the right choice by choosing The V Nesplein Hotel since it is very cozy and warm. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The restaurant called The Lobby is one of the major attractions in...

This hotel is extremely well located, half a block from the middle of everything, but tucked away on a quiet street like a little retreat. The rooms were modern and quite large by European standards -- we had a full size closet and even a sitting area. Check-in was easy, and the front desk personnel were helpful with directions, bus...

The rooms are large and the bathroom is nice but the room could have been much cleaner. Also the restaurant downstairs is really hip, elegant, trendy with a warm atmosphere. People from outside come to this hotel to have a great evening or a nice breakfast. And now for the bad part. Although the hotel is located in a residential...

I stayed here for 3 nights for a quick weekend getaway with 1 more. As soon as we checked in, the staff were more than helpful, handing us a map and pointing out the best places to see. It was a 5 min walk from the train station and from Amsterdam square which allowed us to nip out for snacks...

V Nesplein We stayed five nights in September 2016. The Hotel is a stone’s throw from Dam Square but is on a very quiet, minor road (allmsot a Lane) and there is no noise. The staff are all very motivated and obliging. The Bar and Restaurant are atmospheric, and the food and service faultless. Our room was very large by...

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel V Nesplein. The hotel is pretty hip - the rooms are decorated in a '70's style with velvet wall paper with hipster touches. The location is a bit far from the Van Gogh museum, but near good shopping. The restaurant in the hotel was super trendy and we had trouble making a reservation....

We book a single night to run away from home and the kids, just that one night. We were not disappointed, it was fun. Fun was the hipster at the reception who couldn't stop helping us until I asked him, somehow abruptly and in Dutch to boot, "Kunnen we gaan?", meaning: can we go? Now, please? And everybody laughed. The...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
