A beautiful clean room with a large and very comfortable bed as well as excellent breakfast made our stay pretty much perfect. The hotel offers good service and is ideally located to explore Amsterdam on foot - we can definitely recommend staying here!

This was an amazing little gem of a hotel in the center of Amsterdam. Great location where you can walk to everything, or take the metro for a quick ride. The owners were wonderful. They have great knowledge of the city and the history. They make you feel right at home. They have an amazing bar on the weekends for...

Very charming and sumptuously decorated bar/ dining area. Bedrooms are large and comfortable clean and cosy but are accesssed with traditional steep staircase. The owners were very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and places to visit. Lovely traditional breakfast with locally sourced goodies A great situation about 15 minute walk to the station and its canal side position gave...

Rachel and Pepijn treated us like old friends. They took time to help us plan out our daily adventures in Amsterdam -- it was was our first visit. Not only are they exceptionally knowledgeable, they are also lovely hosts. Every morning we were greeted with espresso, croissant, Dutch cheeses and eggs made to order. In addition, they were able to...

My wife and i have just spent 3 nights at this place and it has been perfect. The rooms are cosy, warm, quirky and well stocked with everything you might need. Nice shower, lovely breakfast and above all very welcoming hosts. The location could not be better. I doubt you will find better value for money anywhere in Amsterdam.

What was it about my room at misc eatdrinksleep that made it my favorite ever (and, as a lover of hotels, I've been in many)? The hotel's perfect location helped, situated as it was in the center of Amsterdam, steps from the Nieuwmarkt, and within easy walking distance of all the most popular sights. Certainly, the owners' friendliness, charm, and...

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in January 2017 with my other half and we cannot recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, they were as helpful as possible, keeping our bags as the room wasnt ready, offering directions and a map and recommendations as to where to go/what to do on that afternoon! Once our room...

Stayed there for 3 night. Lovely small boutique hotel in the heart of the city, run by a couple. Nice size room with a cozy interior and a free mini bar that gets filled every day. Great and fresh breakfast. Both Rachel and Pepjin were really helpful. We were welcomed with a bottle of proseco and chocolate...it's the small things...

I was not aware that I had to check in before midnight. Rachel waited for me until almost 2am for me. When I arrived, she was not mad at all but super welcoming. The room has everything you need from shampoo, body location, complimentary drinks and snacks. The room is so cozy and has a perfect canal view. It comes...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.

“If you're an urban dweller, the canal-facing rooms won't seem too loud. As a New Yorker, I had no need of the white noise machine that was thoughtfully provided. The owners seem to think the quieter garden-view rooms in the rear are better, though, so if silence is important to you, try those. Be aware that there's no elevator and the steps are typically (for Amsterdam) steep and winding.”
