Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.

We booked the Nova Apartments from the decent reviews about and glad we did. We wanted to stay in the `Museumplein area with the Albert Cuyp market nearby and location wise this was spot on. Easy to get to from Centraal Station with just one tram that drops you off at the bottom

The apartment in the Nova Hotel annexe is comfortable and well furnished. Being in the basement it is somewhat dark and not very well ventilated, but has a door to the garden. There’s a trade-off between getting air and feeling safe. Some of the fittings are showing their age.

I came to Amsterdam with 3 colleagues and we shared to apartments with 2 single beds each. Our conference was in the RAI and the apartments were ideally located a 10 minute cycle or a metro ride away, while also being very close to museum square and not too far from the city

We wanted an apartment with a kitchenette so we had the option to store food, cook as well as eat out as we travelled. Our location was located close to tram station as well as grocery store by Museumplein. It was clean, and there was lots of space for us with a double bed,

Is smoking allowed in the balcony?
Do you have an elevator?
Yes they do but as far as I know it is only goes to the apartments on the upper levers. It doesn't go down to the 2 lower level apartments.

I am not the owner of these apartments - I just stayed there in August, but I can answer your question. When you come out of Central Station in Amsterdam walk across to tram #5. Take this tram to Museumplein stop and get off there. Then it is a short walk to Nicolaas Maesstraat. I can recommend the iPhone app "CityMaps2Go" - put this on your phone and download Amsterdam city. It will not cost you anything for the app, for the map or to use the map. It is really very good and accurate (it shows you current location as well so use it like Google Maps).
