Stayed here During the ISE, Check In is easy, buzzer entry. Allocated Room on the 2nd floor, easily accessed by the lift. Room was nice and spacious, with 2 of us Staying I was on the Sofa Bed and my Colleague on the Bed. To be honest the sofa Bed was easy to unfold and was very comfortable. Lovely if not compact en suite bathroom, great shower. Little kitchen was handy and the coffee machine a god send (replenished with new coffee pods daily) the room was cleaned Dailey with fresh linen and towels. The area itself is pleasant and bit more local than staying in the centre. About a 10 min walk from the De Pijp metro and also well served with local Trams so as long as you are not partying too late public transport is decent but a Cab from the Centre will cost around 20 Euros. All in all, was an enjoyable stay, good area if you want to avoid the Hustle and Bustle and very good value for the apartment you get.

Overall, this was a very nice, comfortable apartment in a good location which I would highly recommend. If you want more detail then please read on...

Facilities - The apartment had a pretty open layout, with no door between the bedroom and living area, only a dividing wall. Some might say this was a disadvantage but personally I think sealing off the room would have made the rooms feel more claustrophobic. The kitchenette, dining and living area were all in one. The furniture was solid and comfortable and generally the apartment was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was modern and the shower was a diversion from a mixer tap which meant that it had a good level of power and the temperature was easy to adjust which was great.

The kitchenette had a senseo coffee machine, which was a bit curious but was fine, a kettle, a combination microwave/ oven/ grill, a hob, a dishwasher and all the utensils and cockery etc that you would need. I found that a toaster and cafetiere was missing. They also only provide dishwasher tablets which means that you can't wash anything in singular items or have anything to wipe down surfaces with etc unless you bought cleaning things yourself.

The bed was comfortable and there was a large wardrobe in the bedroom for storage.

Staff - there is no 'on hand' staff as it were, the key and a helpful introduction letter are available in the lobby area when you arrive. There is a phone in the room to ring staff based at the sister hotel if needed, though we never used this. The apartment had some cleaning daily which consisted of straightening the bed, topping up some of the tea/ coffee supplies and hoovering.

Location - We got the bus from the airport to the hotel (the 197) which costed 5EUR each and stopped about 200m from the apartments which was great. The apartments are located in a residential street very close to the Museumplein (where there are several museums) and there are a few good restaurants nearby. This means that there are things to do close by but it lacks the tourist hustle and bustle, which we prefer. It does however mean it's about a 30 minute walk into the more central parts of Amsterdam. It's a pretty straightforward route though, and I tended to orientate myself by the Rijksmuseum. There is a supermarket very close by which was great for picking up supplies on our first night and had everything you would need - they don't take credit cards though so make sure you have cash (there is a cash machine on the main street on the way though).

The apartments are very well located for visiting Rejks museum, Van Gogh museum, mosern art museum and Concert Gebauw. Clean, well furnished, fresh. I had only one problem - total idiot at the reception, now the reception is not at the property, it is 10 km away. You connect to the reception by ringing the bell next to the entrance door.

Unfortunately for me the person who answered my call could not find my fully prepaid reservation. This type of things happen, but this one did not want to make an effort to investigate the issue, just kept telling me to go away because he had no record of my reservation and the property was sold out, he refused to buzz me into the lobby. Finally another guest came out and let me in, then I found inside an envelope with my name and the keys to the apartment. So it all ended well. I did call from the road few hours earlier to tell the property exactly when I am coming and confirmed the details so that must have helped to prepare an envelope for me, but when you run into a receptionist who is really indifferent to the fact that he is sending out on the street without a place to stay after you paid for it, there are not many things you can do to secure your stay.

The apartment is situated in a quiet street in the museum quarter. Easy access to tram and also walking distance to the museums. Tram from the main train station is convenient. Note that the tram stop is located towards the left hand side of the station as you walk out (50 m ) and not in front of the exit.

The apartment is fully equip with oven microwave, dishwasher, individual bag filtered coffee, kettle, kitchenware, pots and pans etc, ableiron, safe, TV, radio etc………..There is no A/C and could get warm in summer. Toilet is modern. Basically one can bring a suit case and live here very comfortably.

Few points to consider :

1. The hotel is situated in a quiet street. There is no reception and key is left inside the apartment. Once they have verified your ID, you are buzzed in remotely and you pick up a welcome envelope. Note that it is only ready at 2PM. I arrived 7AM from a morning flight and basically had to leave my bags under the stairs along the corridor which was not secured. There is not bathroom until you get into the room. I had emailed the hotel when doing the booking and was not pre-warned or advised that I could go to Nova Hotel and leave my luggage there until 2 PM.

2. There is an elevator in the building but………………..it is only useful if you leave on the upper floors. Unfortunately I was assigned one of the 2 rooms in the basement. Small window ceiling level which oversees the street. Curtains available but not ideal if you want sun light and privacy. How do you get your luggage down to the basement? Elevator starts at ground floor and up………..You have to drag it down a spiral stair case. Not ideal or senior citizens ( should I say impossible ). Again, not pre-warned.

Other than that, the apartment is perfect.

This is a great place. Hard to find economic lodging in Amsterdam. This one was one of the few that was within the budget. And it did not disappoint. The neighborhood is great. Even the driver from the airport complimented our choice of stay. It's walking distance from the museum district and right near a metro line. The unit itself was a treat. A very welcoming atmosphere. Lots of light, big living room area, all the regular apartment accoutrements.

After reading the reviews we were confident of our accommodation for our trip to Amsterdam. The staff were very helpful and the apartment was immaculate. The pod coffee machine was an lovely bonus after a hard days sight-seeing! We stayed on the second floor over-looking the street (which was very quiet, except for a few school children in the mornings). On the last day the hotel staff let us keep our luggage in the holding room in the main hotel building in the city centre, which help us greatly! The apartment was serviced everyday (hover, bed-making, dishes and towels)
Will definitely be visiting again!

It had been said in many of the reviews about the location of the Nova apartments but they really couldn't be any better. I've been to Amsterdam twice previously and stayed between Grand Central and Dam square on both occasions and liked it there so I was a bit nervous changing it up a little but I was pleasantly surprised. Nestled in a quiet street this apartment was easy to get to and within 3 minutes of the excellent tram lines. We walked everywhere the first day not really knowing much about the tram system but got used to it very quickly. I would recommend the 24/48 or 72 hour GVB tickets - 24 can be bought from the tram driver and you can hop on and off as often as you like. Just swipe when getting on and off. Back to the apartment itself. We got a studio on the ground floor right beside entrance which was handy. There facilities were fine and the room was clean. It was by far the nicest bed I have ever slept in and the deep bath was a pleasant surprise and ideal after all the walking. The room was cleaned everyday which was great. I really have no faults whatsoever and will be staying here again. Well done Nova, I think I have found a little gem.

The location of these apartments is great, very near the Concertgebouw and the Museums, and only a few tram stops from the train station.
I stayed twice, the first time on the second floor and the second time in a basement room. While the upper floor was better, both rooms were spacious, comfortabe and well equipped, with some nice details, e.g. good quality rustic wood chair and table, several complimentary and good quality teas, powerful shower, etc.
There's no reception desk (you only communicate with interphone), so the accueil is not the warmest...but at least it works efficiently.
I wasn't paying but checked the prices and they seemed on the highish side, though perhaps in line for this area in the city.

These apartments are within close walking distance to several major museums, as well as many excellent cafes, delis and bars. Albert Hein grocery is just down the street and the Albert Cuyp open air street market only a few blocks away. There's a tram stop < 200 meters away (we took the bus, then tram from the airport-very easy commute). The apartment was spacious, clean & well appointed in a safe, quiet neighborhood. Free reliable wifi too. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Amsterdam. 5 stars all around!

I really don't know. We were in the basement and if there was a lift it didn't go down there.

My sister was a smoker but always went downstairs. There is room to stand out on the balcony but it’s tiny. We noticed a smoke alarm in the living area so maybe not advised. But as I mentioned just nipped outside if she needed one.

Yes they do but as far as I know it is only goes to the apartments on the upper levers. It doesn't go down to the 2 lower level apartments.

I am not the owner of these apartments - I just stayed there in August, but I can answer your question. When you come out of Central Station in Amsterdam walk across to tram #5. Take this tram to Museumplein stop and get off there. Then it is a short walk to Nicolaas Maesstraat. I can recommend the iPhone app "CityMaps2Go" - put this on your phone and download Amsterdam city. It will not cost you anything for the app, for the map or to use the map. It is really very good and accurate (it shows you current location as well so use it like Google Maps).
