This a very nice hotel and is a great location. Don't let the entry and "lobby" scare you off, it is VERY tiny, but the rooms are not. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom was a good size as well. There was an AC unit in the room that we could control and were able to run the AC at night. We had a corner room and I think that might have given us a little more space. The street it's on seems busy during the day, but it is quiet at night and outside noise was not an issue. The location is great. It was central to everything we were doing while we were visiting and is near the museums, restaurants and bars. The front desk person gave us the BEST recommendation for a breakfast restaurant that is right by the hotel - Ted's and reserved a taxi for us when it was time to go to the airport. You'll need to reserve the taxi the day/night before. If you let them know what time you need to leave, they will make the arrangements with the taxi company. I would stay here again.…
Near museums but quite a walk from the train station. We requested a “Canal View” room, which it might have been…in the winter. All we could see were tops of trees lining what we presume was the canal. Excellent desk staff and we were able to leave our luggage at the desk when we arrived early. Fairly pricey, but what wasn’t in the summer?
I stayed here in the middle of July when the weather was over 30 degrees. I was put into a room with faulty air conditioning where the room temperature was 30 degrees by 2am. Neither my partner or I were able to sleep that night. Considering we only visited Amsterdam for two nights this ruined the first day of our trip. The hotel then told us they’d either get the aircon fixed or find us a new room. One of the employees called me the next day at 12pm to tell me they were unable to fix the aircon so would find us a new room. They informed us however that we needed to return to the room by 2pm to move our belongings out as they needed to clean the room for new guests! This shocked me as not only were they inconsiderate of our plans, but they had planned to reuse the room despite it being unsafe in the heat! Given how hot the temperature was at this time of year, I actually deemed this to be quite dangerous. Although we were moved rooms, this caused such an inconvenience for us. Our first day was ruined because we had no sleep and were then receiving phone calls during our day that put us in awkward dilemmas. On a separate note, there was also no manager on site to talk to directly which I thought was unprofessional. The pillows in all the hotel rooms were more like cushions and were way too thick to lie comfortably on. Even after moving rooms on our second night I slept appallingly as a result of this. I raised a complaint to my holiday provider and they informed me the hotel was a challenge to get in contact with. They also had to compensate me themselves because they claimed the hotel refused to provide any sort of compensation and had denied the claims I made against them. I’ve never experienced this level of customer service before. Avoid at all costs. This hotel clearly does not care for their customer or value their needs and comfort.…
I'm utterly confused as to why this hotel gets such good reviews. I'm also confused how on earth I selected this place. Seriously, I'm not one to write bad reviews, but this "hotel" is a joke. My room isn't even big enough to unfold my suitcase, and the queen bed basically takes up 1/3 of the entire room. I'm tall and skinny, but I have to squeeze by the tiny sink to get into the shower, which has enough shower gel left for 2 showers. The place is pretty loud, anytime somebody walks above you or enters/leaves their room you can hear it. The windows are old too, so the street noise is pretty noticeable. There is an A/C in the room but it doesn't seem to work very well or respond to the remote. The buttons to ask/decline housekeeping also doesn't work. While this is certainly a cool old building, there is no lobby or anything in this "hotel" - you more or less go straight up into your room (or box in my case). This would be okay if it were affordable, but I paid over 200 EUR for what is essentially a storage room with a window. The location is alright, but so are 90% of the hotels in Amsterdam. It's close to the Rijksmuseum and a few bars and restaurants. Definitely don't stay here if you don't like small spaces. I don't mind small, but I will never stay here again. Oh, and for the 200+ Euros you also don't get free coffee in your room, you have to pay for the pods. Maybe I would have had to pay for them to fill up the shower gel too. What a joke.…
The bed was comfortable and the room wasn't as small as it could have been, and the positives stop there. No one at the front desk most of the time. You have to outside the building to speak into a box mounted on the front of the house to get any help after 5: PM. No sign outside identifying the location as a hotel. The steps to the lower level, where our room was, were narrow and steep. I play tennis four days a week and am in good shape and I had trouble with them. Lots of street noise, LOTS!!! For some crazy reason the housekeeping staff decided to take the pillow cases off my pillows, ( I travel with my own pillows) and poof they were gone. Needless to say we were very disappointed. Avoid this one.
House 377 has a great location, it was quite expensive, but sold to us as a boutique hotel with canal views. We did have a canal view from our room in the roof. But there were no luxurious touches we had expected from a boutique hotel . The room was small. The television did not work and had cables hanging out of it. There were nice Rituals shower gel and hand wash bottles but they were empty. A very small bottle of shower gel (20ml) was provided, for two adults for 3 nights it was insufficient, we had to buy more. There was a tiny amount of thin toilet paper left on a roll, a very disappointing appearance. The very small bathroom had a glass door so you could see the person sitting on the toilet. There was no one at reception, we had an e-mail which we used to try to ask for help with the television and shower gel, but it redirected us to a different email which, after 3 days, redirected us back to the first email. Besides these, the bed was comfortable and we enjoyed Amsterdam. If a hotel is advertised as a boutique hotel, you would expect some nice touches, and to be able to speak to a human being if things were not working.…
Overall, a nice hotel stay. Room wasn't large, but had enough room to move around with bumping into things. Customer Service was AWESOME!!!!!!!! No complaints about customer service. Room was cleaned and I love the signage outside the room door to let folks know it was occupied to keep housekeeping from having to knock on doors. Bathroom was very tight and small. However, it forced me to do my business and not linger in the shower, so I guess that design works. There were a few things that kept this from being a 5-star stay: 1. When cleaning, check and clean the electric kettle and espresso machine. I went to use both and found used tea bags in the kettle and espresso cups in the machine. That's just nasty. 2. Consider placing a hook or something in the rooms to open the windows. I'm short and couldn't open the window to get a little fresh air. Also, suggesting I stand on the desk chair or window sill isn't good and safe. 3. It's time for a new mattress. As comfortable as the bed was, I didn't like sagging in the middle or clutching to the edge to keep myself from rolling into the sagging middle. Would I stay here again though? Yes, I would.…
We had to cancel our booking due to covid ! Poor communication from the hotel ! I asked for a refund , even a half would have sufficed ! I send 4 emails and only one was replied to offering a two year credit ! Every other hotel in Europe gave me full refunds ! It is most disappointing as who knows when one will be able to travel overseas from Australia again ! I looked at current rates and they are about a third of what I paid so a half refund would still be a profit for them ! Hopefully on reading this some action may be taken
Comfy bed & powerful shower - what more could you ask? Really great location right beside Leidseplein, one of my favourite spots in Amsterdam. Been to Amsterdam 5 times and this hotel was definitely good value for money, we got it pretty cheap because of COVID but I’d definitely come back, reception staff were also great & really helpful. Hired the hotel bikes which was great fun, over all a perfect stay! Only thing is room number 302 didn’t have a fridge when it stated there was one, which meant our water was roasting in the morning as the room was so hot but there is air con to fix that.
From the moment we arrived we felt at home, the staff were welcoming and showed us to our room straight away. The room was spacious and warm, it was clean and smelt nice. The location is great for things to do in Amsterdam and is also near so many nice restaurants. Me and my girlfriend are looking to come back to Amsterdam very soon and will be staying here again!
