We didn't stay at the Tamara Hotel but ate at the Ocakbasi, finished off with cocktails at their well equipped North Side Bar. We ate mid afternoon when the Okabassi was closed but they welcomed us. Really good Turkish Blues was playing that we could have copied had we a USB. We chose our grill and they encouraged the hazelnut...

I canon comment on this hostel as I only ever stay in hotel's in Amsterdam but the one thing I can say is the the Irish pub below the hostel is just one amazing lively pub. We had been to some great pub's and bar's in the red light district and more or less fell into here,we have been here...

You get what you pay for. Room was clean, fresh sheets and towels. Shared bathroom was kept clean. Lady that checked us in was very helpful regarding local knowledge. Location was fantastic, 5mins from the heart of De Wallen.

This was the worst hotel ever! Everything sucks! We didn't stay for the all time we paid! The room was dirty and so small that I can't even describe, we couldn't sleep inside of the bed,the sheets were dirty! The washroom smell like pee and there was no paper towel's or soap! It was disgusting!

I wouldn’t say I don’t recommend this hotel in case you want a pleasant stay, I simply wouldn’t recommend Hotel Tamara if you want to STAY. Indescribable. It is the most disgusting, grotesque, stinky, depressing, revolting, horrid and revolting place I’ve ever been to. On top of all that, it really is as dirty as a sewer. Let me walk...

I've never stayed in a hostel before so a first for me, you get what you pay for!! Central location, moments away from the main station, red light district and some beautiful tourist attractions in the city center. Room was clean(ish) but did have a storage locker with padlock and extra covers for the chillier nights which was a bonus...

First of all, this 'hotel' (I am not sure we can call this a hotel, I have seen better garages) has two different emplacements. You might go to the main address only to find out they don't have any rooms left (even though you made a reservation) and that you have to go to another place (you were not aware...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
