If you want peace as well as bustle in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, then Churchill hotel Terneuzen is ideal. The hotel is in a fabulous location on the Zeedijk, on the Western Scheldt. This is the perfect starting point for a walk to the centre of Terneuzen or a tour of the Otheense Kreek. From here, you can also cycle to the local (fortified) towns of Aardenburg, IJzendijke, Hulst and Sluis.

We chose this hotel because of its waterfront location and the free parking facilities. The room is of standard quality with all the conveniences included, which you would expect in this price range. Breakfast was acceptable - no buffet in Corona time - but could have simply been improved by adding a lot more fruit such as a large basket of fresh oranges. The staff are very friendly.

We enjoyed our stay at the Churchill Hotel, recommended by a friend who lives nearby. It was easy to get there via public transportation (#20 bus from Goes station to Prof. Zeermatt St. stop). Rooms are rather basic but comfortably furnished. Fabulous location right on the walking path at water's edge. Easy 10-15 minute walk to town center (even if it looks farther on a map!). Our rate included breakfast and the buffet was very nice with good variety. The staff was very welcoming.

Great staff on reception, good breakfast and view from restaurant.
Hotel itself feels basic and tired.
The room was clean but smelt a little musty.
Didn’t help that the weather wasn’t great for our 1 night stay but hotel and location just felt a bit grey and depressing.

For a couple of 100 euros I would expect more than a normal sized room with view to carpark, one tiny window that opens with no air con, none whatsoever but half a dispenser of cheepo shower/bath stuff, and thin towels. Dito cheep ded side lamp fell apart, which didn't faze the two persons who came to inspect and just left it hanging on, after shrugging their shoulders. Saving grace was the excellent diner in restaurant, although even there personnel could do with a customer service course.

Nice room (except for the dirty cup).
Very nice people!
Swimming pool very good, sauna also. Only one shower is not enough.
The breakfast had a big diversity! Thank you very much for the glutenfree bread!

Hampshire Hotel - Churchill Terneuzen - The Netherlands
Date 31st March 2007
Reviewer - A Trip Advisor Member in Hampshire,England.
Hi, my husband and I have just returned from a weekend break to the Netherlands. We booked a twin room in the Hampshire hotel wile visiting the famous cities of Bruges and Ghent.
The hotel is situated along the Westerschelde (sea front), with views from the dining room/bar of the ships sailing by.
The town centre is about a 20 minute walk.
The hotel has 54 rooms. Our downstairs room as you walked in had the bathroom on the right with a white bath and shower over. The glass shower screen had a large crack in it! Sink with mini shampo/bubble bath/shower cap/shoe shine set on the side. Free use of towels and bath mat.On the left a large wardrobe with sliding doors and plenty of coat hangers. Full length mirror on the back of room door.Further along the little passage our room had twin beds side by side, bedside tables with reading lamps. Phone on the right hand side. There was large desk at the bottom of the beds with internet connection, pen, note paper and hotel info....under the desk at one side was a cold empty fridge with instructions inside to phone room service to request the required drinks. A large window looking out onto the carpark with nets and curtains. Infront of the window in our room there was a small table and x2 comfy chairs. We found the room very clean and had every thing we needed, including a kettle. (I would recomend bringing more coffee etc if you want to drink more than one cup though!) Dinner we had the set menu. The drinks in the restaurent and bar are bought using a consumpton card which is purchased from reception at 10 euro's per card. If you have money left on your cards, reception change it back to euro's at the end of your stay.
Breakfast was very nice with a choice of bacon and scrambled egg /cold meats / yogurts / cereals / breads / fruits.
The staff were polite and helpfull. We did not view the pool so it would be unfair to comment....
I would not hesitate to recomend this hotel and it's exellant service to any traveller - I would stay at this hotel again!

Best Wishes...

Stayed for one night in a nice room on the top floor with the best available view.
Don’t let the dated external appearance of the building put you off. It looks much nicer inside!
Lots of free parking.
Very pleasant front desk staff.
Nicely appointed room with kettle and Nespresso machine.
No air-conditioning but they provided a high quality fan and the window opens wide.
Two-course dinner included in our package. Plenty to choose from on the dedicated menu. Food was really good, as was the breakfast from a very substantial buffet.
Would not hesitate to stay here again when next in the area. Recommend.

Very friendly staff in a recently renovated hotel, the interior looks great but they cut some corners I'm afraid. The room itself had 2 major faults, soundproofing of the walls/floor/ceiling/door was non-existent (had to lay a towel at the door to keep out the light from the hallway, also we could hear the neighbours and the swimming pool below) + the bed needs replacing (there was a plank onder my mattress to extend the life cycle). The pool area was very cold as was the water, they posted a sign that this is for the climate but feels more like a budget-thing. It's not enjoyable at this temperature, after a half hour swim I need the sauna to heat up and didn't break a sweat in there.

Breakfast was OK, needs some better quality bread (to soft and not 'krokant') but the rest was fine.

Overall this isn't a 4 star hotel, would recommend this for the view from the restaurant/the food at dinner and the friendly staff.

It was my second visit for business in this Hotel.
I have to say good experience from making the reservation until checking out.
you get a pre arrival mail and a post arrival mail very nice the hotel itself is good certainly for Terneuzen it is very clean and the staff is very nice restaurant and breakfast good.my only negativ the door is toshort so light is coming under the door into your room and when somebody makes noise in the halway you will hear it.
but when you drink a few wines it is ok.

Hotel is just by the river, so if weather is good you shouldn't miss the opportunity to take a beer in the terrace of the bar. Hotel is not specially beautiful but its really quiet, comfortable and staff was really friendly; morning breakfast quite complete, good choices of breads.
