We spent 2 nights in De Mafkees with a large group of over 35 rugby players while being in Rotterdam for a match. We picked this hostel based upon the bad reviews here. Because, you don't put a swine in a golden bath tub, right? Well, I must say that this hostel met all my needs and it even felt...

Hostel De Mafkees sums up everything that is really terrible about Rotterdam, which is nearly everything. In addition, although Rotterdam has some lovely modern architecture you can look at, Hostel De Mafkees is an enormous converted warehouse. There is nothing there to gladden the eye. Rotterdam itself is a place where even the budget accommodation tends to be expensive, so...

I liked this place, the atmosphere was good. The best part about the place is the workers. They are really chill and kind. You can always have a chat with them and have great time. The down side about this place is the dorms. There are 3 dorms with 40 beds inside, so you don't have a lot of privacy.

The hostel was good enough for one night, but I would not recommend staying longer than that. Beds are super uncomfortable, with plastic mattresses. You have to pay for sheets, pillow, and blanket! The bunk beds didn't even have a ladder to climb up to the second bunk. It's also very easy to hear the guests in the lounge at...

This place is located in an industrial sort of area of Rotterdam a few minutes walk from the train station. It's not the nicest area, but doesn't feel that dangerous at night. I remember walking through the automatic doors and being confused as to how this place worked. I was greeted by a single staff member who seemed to be...

Sorry "guests spend too much", so no workin sockets in the rooms Need milk at breakfast? Just powder milk! (Cows are to expensive, I figure) Anyway, if u...

Sheets, towels and pillar are extra, toilets are relatively dirty (the WC lack some pieces (WC seats), in the rooms there are no spaces to recharge your mobile phone and you have to plugh your charger in a multiple socket that is in the common spaces. Internet doesnt work properly. You cannot pay using credit card, they havent released a...

The rooms are huge and can take a whole lot of people - I saw that someone said 40-something beds, that's probably accurate. Everything's on one floor, so if you've got problems with stairs, this is a good choice. I dislike the fact that you have to pay for sheets separately, but what can you do. Showers are mixed, and...

The only advantage in this hostel is low price, everything else there is just bad. I spent there one week. Toilets and showers are so messy and dirty. Wifi doesn't work. The floor is sticky. Room smells so bad, windows are covered there, so you can barely breath and sockets in the room are almost at the ceiling (!?). Last...

There is one bedroom for all of the people staying in the hostel so I slept amongst a symphony of snoring people. They also must not have air conditioning as it was too warm to sleep but there was nothing on to cool the room down. There were also bugs flying and buzzing around the room. Wifi usually doesn't work...
