Don't expect modern, glass and chrome, pool and lobby because this a normal European middle-of-the-road hotel without those kinds of amenities that suited our needs very well. Clean, well-located with friendly hosts. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Steep stairs so guests must be mobile.

I've stayed here 2 times and both times for just one night. It's a pretty decent hotel though a bit outdated. The owners are lovely though and their great humor and the service make up for the slightly corny interior. Rooms are quite spacious though having to walk the stairs was a bit crappy since I'm not that mobile.

The owners of this hotel make you feel welcome and comfortable immediately. They are a genuinely friendly and helpful couple. For a hotel in this price range, service is far better and more attentive than expected. The location is very good, with a choice of cafes, restaurants and shops all around. An easy walk to public transport will get you...

I often choose not to stay at the typical conference hotel and my visit to the World Forum this week was one of them. I can highly recommend the family run Staten. At 57Euros per night it was very good value for money. The room was quite small, but perfectly large enough for me as I spent little time in...

This is a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect - a lovely area with good transport links to the centre and the beach. Also handy for museums and the world forum or other conference venues. The owners are just lovely - it's like a home away from home. The rooms are clean, beds really comfortable, and large. Breakfast...

This modest hotel provides very good value and is cosy, quiet and very clean. Access to many places is within a few minutes walk to the Tram. The neighborhood has a wide variety of amenities, restaurants, shopping.

We stayed for two nights at Staten and chose it mainly because of location. Staten is a typical small European hotel with creaky floorboards and rooms with character. But it is much better than most in that it is well maintained and comfortable. Our room was generous size and was in the corner so had lots of windows. An unbelievably...

I was in Holland for a week attending a very important business Convention. I must say that it was a very pleasant and relaxing week. The owners were exceptionally friendly, my room which was a corner one had a lovely view and most importantly was very clean. Breakfast was abundant and quite tasty. next time I am in Holland I...

Warm welcome from the couple who run the business. Despite a very narrow stairs (typicall dutch stairs??) the room and bathroom are super clean and have nice feeling about it. Good selection for breakfast.

“The rooms are very basic. It's part of their charm. No need to get a room with a bath: little competition. Front rooms can be noisy.”

“Make sure you take a detailed map with you of the vicinity (off the 'net) as it can be a little tricky to know how to find the hotel otherwise.”

“The hotel is on three floors, which wasn't a problem for me, but with quite a narrow staircase it could be a climb for some, especially if you have heavy luggage. All rooms are at least up one flight of stairs, so it may be worth questioning which room is where. I had a room looking over the main street, but it was very quiet at night and enjoyable to be in.”
